This book would make a great read. But for an audiobook it is too dense and a bit dry.

This is one of the best books I have ever read (listened to). An incredible story. And a brilliant performance. I wish I could have given it more stars. Now when I watch the Daily Show, Trevor’s words will have much more meaning for me because I know where has come from.

This is a fun and interesting book. Great anecdotes and well presented, as you would expect from a professional entertainer and politician like Franken. However, he is unabashedly left wing, which gets annoying at times. I had to skip through a few sections when he went on a tirade against what he views as "obvious" incompetence or injustice, which is not at all the case to a more neutral listener. Nonetheless, overall it was a good book by someone with a unique perspective.

I enjoyed learning about Alibaba and Jack Ma. However, the narrator pronounced all the Chinese names and words terribly. It was like fingernails on a chalk board the entire time (he probably would have been good if this were a US business book).

This could have been a great audio book, but so much if it is blacked out that it became painful. I seriously want my money back. There was almost no book here. It was all music to cover over parts of interest. If they were going to do this then just write a new book that consumers can actually consume. Angry.

There might be a few good nuggets of advice in here but the author / presenter spends so much time bs-ing about how great he is that it just seems like an extended used car commercial. I wanted to like this but just couldn't.

Everything about this was great. Senior's accomplishments and Junior's adoration of his father gave such depth to the characters of both men and the place in history they represent.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is an action-packed true story of heroes protecting America's interests. The fight scenes are riveting (although the whole book is one long fight scene), and the frustration felt by the Operators faced with incompetent leadership is maddening precisely because it is a-political.

What did you love best about Bending Adversity?

The author has a detailed understanding of the nuances of modern day Japan.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance was awful. The reader tried to add accents to every Japanese word but sounded ridiculous throughout. Sorry for being so direct, but his performance made me cringe every time I listened to the book, even though I found the content very interesting.
