Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she's a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trade she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, healings - are all tricks, sleights of hand, learned skills, a means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she's forced to question all she believes.

This story has potential. There is a lot of back and forth with the protagonist. More depth would be a benefit to this story. This is the first book by this author that I have read. I might give her other work a try, but I will not be continuing this series.
The plot is there and intriguing, just not the writing style for me.

Decklan, sorry if I spelled that wrong, is your struggling mental health, Liam the Alpha caretaker, where does Kieran fit into that? Right in your heart, that's where. Patiently waiting his whole life to find the one that makes him spark. Faithful to the hilt, in faith and love, man, he just drags you right into the story. Loved this book!
