It began on New Year's Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max.

After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.

I was Leary about this one but now I'm distraught it's over. if you're looking for something that grabs you in the first page. Yes , I SWEAR the first page. This is not an author I've read very much but this book was absolutely amazing. It grabs you from go and keeps you till the end. I could say so much but I'm going to hold back to keep from spoiling it for anyone. the narration was perfect. The story had me in its world even if I had to stop and pick it up later which I really didn't want to do. Read this book!!!

This was a great book. It grabs you quick and never lets go. I honestly Laughed out loud, cried for moments both goid and bad. AMAZING! And the Narrator is hands down the BEST one I've listened to. I have audio books I can't listen to because of the narrator's odd tempo or intonation. I wish this performer did all my books .

The best part about a book, is that moment you can put it down, and say at least that can't happen in real life, until now. The Uninvited will leave you checking your doors, locking your windows and skipping the weekend camping trip. Meet the stranger, a killer who is unbiased about who it chooses to be the victim, and never tires of the killing. If Dexter and Leatherface had a baby, The Uninvited would be their offspring.

Unfortunately I am 1/2 through the first chapter and I cant keep going. I cant get into what sounds like will be a great story because the narrator speaks EVERY sentence as if it were ....Exciting?, or as if hes commentating a car race. It just prevents any flow, if that makes sense. I am deeply disappointed that I purchased the audible upgrade. I will have to review If I get a chance to read it.
