Caretta Rutledge thought she’d left her Southern roots and troubled family far behind. But an unusual request from her mother – coming just as her own life is spinning out of control – has Cara heading back to the scenic Lowcountry of her childhood summers. Before long, the rhythms of the island open her heart in wonderful ways as she repairs the family beach house, becomes a bona fide “turtle lady” and renews old acquaintances long thought lost.

Loved this book! Not sure why it isn’t closer to a 5* review. It is a great story of sisterly love and obligation as well as bringing to light some misconceptions many have about beauty pageants—scholarship competitions. In the middle of stepping into her sisters shoes, Charlotte finds herself not only falling in love with the ultimate forbidden man but also discovers new things about herself and a fondness for the women that surround her. Excellent book! Definitely a fun read!

Meet Zoe and Greg Milton, a married couple who have let themselves go a bit. Zoe was a stunner in her college days, but the intervening decades have added five stone, and removed most of her self-esteem. Greg's rugby-playing days are well and truly behind him, thanks to countless pints of beer and chicken curry. When Elise, a radio DJ and Zoe's best friend, tells them about a new competition, it seems like the perfect opportunity to turn their lives around.

Mimi Finnegan has stolen my heart and has made me laugh to a point of needing to take a breather. This fun-filled and humorous read takes us into the life of a quirky, weight watcher going single woman on the brink of either disaster or greatness—you’ll just have to read to find out! Mimi Finnegan reminds us all of humility, gumption and good ole fashioned humor to get through it all whether it’s a bad career mishap at work, extra pounds, bunions, middle child syndrome or whatever else may come our way. The reader does an excellent job of capturing the characters. I couldn’t imagine a better narrator for this great read. You will not want to stop reading or listening. Can’t wait to see more from this author!

This series of two books is by far two of the best books I’ve come across in quite some time. The main character is one to truly love and root for throughout. She is quirky, fun and lovable. The other supporting characters are just as good and round the novel out well. Not only do we get to dive into motherhood and combining families but we also take a look at the mindset of the overly paranoid dooms day planner with a twist. This is the ultimate chick-lit read filled with humor, love, and even a little reality and heartache. I’d highly recommend this book and the series as a whole for anyone wanting a good laugh, an easy, fun read/listen or someone just interested in a good story.

Great listen for a cozy mystery. Combination of fun characters, good food, mystery and intrigue all rounding out to be an easy, light-hearted listen. Easy to become interested in the characters as well as the outcomes.

Good narrator, with the exception of the children voices. Luckily, there are very few children voice lines, so that isn't a huge deal. Otherwise, excellent listen with good tone and mannerism.

Demeter is brilliant and creative, lives with her perfect family in a posh townhouse, and wears the coolest clothes. Katie's life, meanwhile, is a daily struggle - from her dismal rental to her oddball flatmates to the tense office politics she's trying to negotiate. No wonder Katie takes refuge in not-quite-true Instagram posts, especially as she's desperate to make her dad proud.

Cute and entertaining read! Versteeg and Halliday pull you in with a snippy main character as usual, altho a bit ditzy seeming at times. The narrator was good but not great merely because of the odd voices she gave other characters, not the main character (main character/majority of the reading was great).
