Lucy and Gabe meet as seniors at Columbia University on a day that changes both of their lives forever. Together, they decide they want their lives to mean something, to matter. When they meet again a year later, it seems fated--perhaps they'll find life's meaning in each other. But then Gabe becomes a photojournalist assigned to the Middle East and Lucy pursues a career in New York. What follows is a thirteen-year journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, betrayals, and, ultimately, of love. Was it fate that brought them together? Is it choice that has kept them away? Their journey takes Lucy and Gabe continents apart, but never out of each other's hearts.

After reading some of the readers comments I almost didn’t read this book. But I liked the synopsis so I gave it a try. Everyone is different and I, for one, loved this book. Beautiful story and I loved the characters. I adored Lucy and Gabe. I loved Darrin. I understand how all of it could happen. Fabulous writing. So heartfelt. I highly recommend this book. Loved it so much.

I actually listened to the audiobook. I’ve been listening to audiobooks for over a year now. Averaging 3-4 books a month. This was the best so far. Different from my usual interests. The narrator was absolutely fantastic. The story grabbed be right from the beginning. The writing was extraordinary. I felt the words deep into my soul. I adored this book. I recommend it highly without hesitation. This story will stay with me for a long time.

Don’t listen to any negative reviews. This book was delicious! I enjoyed every minute. Makes you laugh and just feel so many things. It was wonderful. Love this author. My second book of hers that I’ve read. I will now read everything she writes.
