As far back as he can remember James Corden has only ever wanted to be in one place: in front of you, doing something to make you laugh, cry, shout, or giggle uncontrollably. At the age of 4, he grandstanded throughout his baby sister’s christening, standing on a chair in front of the whole congregation, pulling faces and cracking everyone up. Despite himself, the vicar was impressed. And from then on he couldn’t get enough of the spotlight, even when it always seemed to avoid him. Throughout his teens, he and his Dad trudged up and down towards London....

That's what it should be titled James! Haha
In all seriousness, it's a great read (Listen). Having the Author tell their own story is the way it should be. Yes, admittedly he'd have more to tell now and more to tell in 10years from now.
It is always a constant reminder that "over night successes" in showbiz are a 10 to 20 year slog. I'm reminded of Malcolm Gladwell's 10000 hour proclamation... It always rings true!

One of the comedy world's fastest-rising stars tells his wild coming of age story during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. Noah provides something deeper than traditional memoirists: powerfully funny observations about how farcical political and social systems play out in our lives.

I was real hung up on the whole "I made my living from pirating music"... especially in a time where other South African's (like myself) were trying to make an honest living trying to sell that music legally... However this book is not about that. This book is a transparent account of the post apartheid struggle of young South African's (then perhaps) to make a go of it in this world.
Also, this book is greater than the sum of its accounts. The point made about violence against woman is a very REAL and pressing issue. It highlights Culture differences and barrier to entry over many spectrum's.
I also believe he is trying to relate to a group of people who probably thought he grew up a Coconut (even though in his case he'd be white inside and out). I myself thought he grew up a life of privilege in Slaap Staad but he didn't. He grew up very close to me (world's apart) and made something GIGANTIC of his life.
It goes to show... never judge a book by its white complexion.
You expect humour and while it's written and performed with humour it is a very serious book addressing serious issues from a first hand account of someone you'd never ever expect would have grown up this way.
I Loved this book!
Thank you Trevor for sharing it with us!

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

I'm a HUGE fan of the show. I think RR is by far the best automobile guy on TV currently. I might even say better than Jeremy Clarkson and crew. The book shares some insight that you don't get from the "best of shows" - I reckon he could have written more. Most probably, as the shrewd business man that Richard is, he has just teased us with this 1st book, right?

I've been fortunate to read the hard copy (and I don't read too good :)) but I must admit (and perhaps its just me) I was able to digest fully the stories and concepts of this Audio recording. Added to that, Its a real treat to have the audio book narrated by the actual author plus a short interview in the beginning outlining the background of this book.

I'd highly recommend this audio to couples in search of some peace in their own relationship (yes, you too guys, especially the guys... its not called the LOVE languages for nothing *hint hint*) and/or people who like to learn more about how different people tick!

and btw, you DON'T have to have a marital issue to learn something from this Author, Gary Chapman. LIKE!
