Bonded takes place in a videogame like world where angels and demons war with the help of their bonded humans. The book boasts a unique setting and a fascinating spin on the concept of angel versus demon spiritual warfare. Additionally, the characters each add something to the story, although their relationships seemed somewhat forced. The story is light which makes it awkward at times when the charters take things super seriously. Overall, not perfect, but it is an interesting addition to the genre.

Even a good narrator cannot fix terrible writing. Chris Graves is unquestionably the best thing this book has going for it. He is truly a talented narrator, which he demonstrates profoundly in this book, as he is the only reason I could finish it. Fiasco Heights suffers from many things from bland and indistinct characters to very little in the way of story. I know that this book never claimed to be anything other than a fun romp through a fantasy world with a harem, but the writing was simply too poor for it to be enjoyable. For example, Zack Archer tied to used phrases like: “and then it happen” about every other page as a way to increase suspense, which I found exceedingly annoying. Overall, I will not be reading any other books by Zack Archer, however I will be keeping my eyes open for more books narrated by Chris Graves. This is a gem. As the number of books I have read has increased, it sometimes seems that the quality of the average book has decreased. It has become increasingly rare that I discover one of true quality. This is one such book. Ryan Kirk presents a vivid Asian themed fantasy, which depicts fascinating charters, cultures, and magic systems. The writing is fresh and well paced and expertly pulls the reader into the story. The world building is excellent and is well balanced by the vibrant character development. This is a great fantasy story and I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Bolivar's Sword takes an epic turn in this second book of The Weapon Takers Saga. With huge pitched battles, many POVs and important characters that are scattered throughout the land, and numerous high stakes situations, the scope of this book becomes even more massive than before.

Jamie Edmundson has a knack for world building and characterization, this book serves to add more detail to an already vivid setting. The largest improvement in this book, however, is that it has a far more satisfying conclusion and story arc.
Finally, while this could be argued as one of the books strengths, it was also by far the biggest frustration for me while listening to the audiobook. It took me the better part of the book to figure out who was who, particularly as it has been some time since I read the first installment. I am not sure if a character guide is included with the hard copy but it would be great if it was added as a PDF to the audiobook.

Bolivar's Sword remains a creative and complex fantasy story that may take a second read to truly appreciate.

The writing is polished, the pacing is superb, and it is apparent that this is an author who is excellent at his craft. If you like LitRPGs that take place entirely in the game world, like the Chaos Seeds or Play to Live series than this book is not only for you, but be prepared to be pleasantly surprised with just how enjoyable this genre can be.

Modified is not without charm and is an interesting superhero adventure. It is kind of reminiscent of an X-men origin story although it was definitely not written for kids. The book centers on a group of supers that form a team, have some fun powers, and battle a villain who is using supers for experiments. The story is exciting, the plot is well paced, and the characters are fun. However, there were defiantly some scenes that seemed forced or slightly awkward. Moreover, sometimes problems enter the plot or are resolved too conveniently for my tastes. However, the book is entertaining and if you are just looking for a fun mindless read this is the book for you.

Pickle Pie is the reason you should not judge a book by its cover, or by its title for that matter. The Story is compelling the plot is thought out and well paced. However, the true winner and the thing that drew me in and did not let me put this book down were the characters. I have to admit, that when I saw how short this book was I doubted that it could be more then a fun dystopian si-fi sojourn whose only purpose was entertainment. Yes, that is mostly true, it is highly entertaining, but this book stands out. It is easily head and shoulders above others that attempt the same thing and flawlessly combines entertainment and quality. This is a well written work that is endearing, exciting, and disturbing. A fantastic short read that is truly worth your time. I am looking forward to the next one.

Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables: men and women who made too many mistakes, didn't follow the rules, or...slept with the wrong general's daughter. Three times. On camera. It was a mistake, okay? My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit".

Combining videogame chat, crude humor, abrasive sarcasm, and pop culture references, Space Force launches itself into being the butt of its own joke. Seriously, the characters insult anyone who crosses their cognitive waves even if it is the book’s author himself. This, I might add, is pure comedic genius, and serves to disenchant even the most stalwart believer that this book is more then it claims to be. It is an affectionate, light-hearted, heavy-handed mockery of Sci-fi, online gaming, and politics. The story is clever and packed with over the top action and gore while still managing to tell a compelling tale. While I doubt it will win any awards, it is definitely worth a read, particularly if you play Fortnite or similar games. However, even if, like myself, you are not a gamer this book is still a very entertaining read.

Kevin Hardman writes another entraining super tale. Amped captures the essence of what life is like for a teenaged superhero as he brings Electra into the spotlight. Hardman knows how to tell a superhero story, as well as how to make heroes seem real and relatable. If you like superhero comics, this story is worth a read. While, I could easily compare this story to that of Mouse, another character spin-off in the Kid Sensation series, and say that Mouse is simply a more interesting character, it would not do justice to this story and what it does for the series as a whole. In Amped, Hardman is able to reveal more about Electra and the challenges that a teen hero might face, while giving greater depth to a loved character. This book is well written and highly entertaining; this is what a superhero novel should be.

Halcyon Rising: Breaking Ground is proof that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Admittedly, at first glance, the cover almost turned me away, as it does make the book seem somewhat juvenile. Ultimately, I only decided to get it because of the narrator. However, the story is much more than it appears and while it is light and fun, it is not juvenile.

The thing that makes this book worth reading comes down to this: it is an enjoyable well-told development and collection LitRPG. Moreover, it centers on telling the tale rather than becoming overly encumbered by countless stat pages. The characters are interesting and the story is well paced. In the end, it is simply entertaining.

The problems that I found in the book all seemed to be linked to the same thing: the story is too short. What this means is that the storytelling and world building could use more detail and the characters and their relationships needed deeper development. While characterization was the weakest point of this book, it did not detract from the story.

Overall, I am glad that I gave this book a chance. Stone Thomas is a new writer and this is his first book, as such, it does have its flaws. However, it is way above average as authors’ first books go and I cannot wait to read more of his works. He is clearly a new author to watch.
