The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

The narrator was awful in places of dialogue, not matching the context or attitude of the character in that situation. There was one "you gotta be shitting me" that will always stick out in my mind. It was so cringe.

What disappointed you about The Fellowship of the Ring?

I love the book and have read it twice. The narration was the downside.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Sam because of his loyalty and strength to his friends.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Okay so, after listening to the audio sample I knew I was in for disappointment from the narration side. I'm relatively new to Audiobooks but I thought his performance was dull. His voices were consistent throughout the book, which was nice, but they varied little and his singing was forced. He didn't say the lines with emotion or with any context, it was a poor performance in comparison to the others I've listened to: Harry Potter (Jim Dale), The Witcher Series (Peter Kenny).

What character would you cut from The Fellowship of the Ring?

I'm not worthy to judge this masterpiece.

Any additional comments?

My first thoughts when I started was: "Damn, I have to listen to this guy for 50 more hours."

I really enjoyed the previous narrator of the first two books. Sad he didn't return for this one.
