This inspirational and down-to-earth audio program by Marianne Williamson, The Sacred Self Workshop, captures the essence of a great weekend recorded live at The Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. In this program, Williamson tells us that the purpose of our lives is to become the sacred enlightened self which already exists in each of us, and that this “Sacred Self” is the part of us that is serene and indestructible. According to Williamson, by committing with heart to a new path, we can begin to live our lives as an endless prayer. Williamson’s dynamic style helps listeners open to greater love, abundance and joy in their lives.

  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Would you try another book from Mark Manson and/or Roger Wayne?

This book was interesting and humorous at first but then lost me after the first 45 minutes. I believe life is too short to read a crappy book, and so I had to say "F it" and put this one down. I would suggest a different kind of humor and reason for reading this book- I found it the least bit insightful, and more a matter of one person's point of view. I look at it like a rant, rather than an inspired piece of text to help people.

What could Mark Manson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Challenge the audience to think with love rather than to think with a judgmental attitude. This book does not serve the world, it serves our egos in my opinion.

Would you be willing to try another one of Roger Wayne’s performances?

Never.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It's humor is fun -- I definitely laughed, but once you've read any high quality books by Dr. Wayne Dyer or Marianne Williamson, a book like this one loses it's appeal. I'd rather be inspired, then join a pity party.
