Fun series, but

I alway enjoy Molly Harper's books. Light fun and entertaining. My lone complaint about this series is the decision to use two narrators. I love the amazing Amanda Ronconi, who inhabits all the characters and the story, but the male narrator too often sounded like he was just reading aloud. It's especially disconcerting when they both read the same characters. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.

I found the first book entertaining enough to read this one. Sadly, "Charlie" drove me crazy. I found her to be impulsive, indulging in wild, irrational speculation and none too bright. She gives in to snap judgements about people doesn't seem to know her own mind. I ended up skipping to almost the end to confirm my suspicion about "whodunit." It wasn't hard to guess and Charlie should have figured it out much sooner. No plans to read the third book.

This book sat on my library "shelf" for a while, but I never seemed to be in the mood for it. Finally, I decided to listen and couldn't get past the first chapter. I found the narrator's voice grating and unsuitable for the character. I think this might be one of those books better read in print.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. The plot is interesting and the writing is good. But our heroine, Amelia, is stupifyingly lacking in common sense. She blithely walks into situations that would put most people's fight or flight instinct on full alert. And for a cemetery restorer who sees ghosts, she is illogically squeamish at the sight of human skeletons. It wasn't hard to figure out who the bad guy was, but I didn’t guess the creative motive. Still, I will consider reading the next in the series. Maybe Amelia will evolve into a more mature herione and gain some intuition.

I have enjoyed most of the books in the series, but I found this one agonizingly slow and lacking in suspense. I started skipping chapters to get to the end, something I never do. Pass on this one.

These stories are always entertaining and this one was as well. The new narrator does an adequate job but, sadly, lacks the energy of the former one. It's almost as if she just dropped by and decided to read the book aloud. I'm sure she can do better.

I didn't get get very far. The quavering voice of the narrator was too distracting. The dialog wasn't strong enough to overcome it.

Intriguing plot and decent writing, but the sing-song narration is too annoying and distracts from the story. I'll finish this one in print.

I chose the book because of the good reviews. Now, they baffle me. I found the writing stilted and the plot silly. I don't recommend this book.

Most enjoyable. Great story, wonderful writing, and an ending I didn't see coming. Can't wait for the next one!
