I would have liked the book, except for the unbelievably crude way that he talked to her, whenever they got close. He sounded like he was talking to a hooker that he had just picked up on a street corner. There's very little that aman can do that repels me faster than him thinking that crudeness is a turn on.I will not be buying any more books by this author.

I really enjoyed this one,it was creative and funny. I liked the heroine, she was smart and interesting, while imperfect enough to be real. I like characters with basic common sense. It's hard to enjoy an audio book if I find that most of the main characters problems are caused by their own inability to think rationally in a crisis.

Because I know and love dogs,I was glad to see someone make friends with an abused dog and then steal it. Then however, instead of rehabilitating the. abused fighting dog,he encourages it to kill people. Then he drops this killer dog off to board at a kennel full of other peoples dogs,to be taken care of by minimum wage teen agers. What could go wrong.? I've worked with dogs, and done animal rescue for35 years and I don't have anything against pit bulls in general,as long as the owners are intelligent and responsible. However unfortunately a lot of idiots think that an aggressive dog is like a gun. They think that it will only be dangerous when they want it to be,and to whom they want it to be.l' m tired of my neighbors pit bulls trying to smash through my storm door to get inside and kill my pets. I'm really tired of seeing on the news some kid got killed because he climbed a fence to get a ball in someone else's yard.My next door neighbors let their pit bull run around the neighborhood chasing peoples kids and growling at everyone. It would follow people around their own yards growling at them every time they left their houses. The idiots that owned it repeatedly stated that they couldn't understand why everyone else couldn't see what a sweet dog it was.I felt sorry for the dog. I knew that sooner or later someone would shoot it,and sure enough one day it just disappeared. There really needs to be some kind of way to determine who has enough rational thinking and sense of responsibility to be allowed to own a pit bull.

I especially like Jane and the fact that she has her solid Christian faith and also honors and respects her Native American heritage. I like the realistic view of her life at the children's home. No matter how kind adults are children and still pack animals, and those who don't fit in are seen as prey. The stories are interesting and complex and even the supporting characters are detailed and interesting.

I have no problem with books that express other beliefs.I was raised to treat all people and their beliefs with respect. When the main character of a book expresses beliefs different from my own it doesn't particularly bother me
The exception to that is when the main character spews out his irrational hatred and prejudice towards any belief different than his own. This attitude is equal to that of a main character who believes that all the evils of the world come from the fact that there are races in it other than his own. It doesn't matter how good the story is or how well written, this kind of intolerance insures that I will not be putting any more money into the pockets of this particular author. He has the right to express his opinion and I have the right to decide where my money goes.
