I really wanted to like this story. After the latest royal wedding, I am primed for multi-cultural stories about royalty. Right off the bat, the narrator (who is probably awesome) sounds like a seventy-year old woman. But the main character appears to be a vibrant young woman. I could not match the voice with the character. And the narrator certainly couldn't do a Scottish man's brogue effectively. But I would've dealt with that, sometimes female narrators just can't do male voices and I'm fine with that. But this was like Ruby Dee portraying Kerry Washington, and it just didn't work.

Smaller note, the words a** crack and f*ck boy were in the first few minutes of the story. Total turn off. Story-wise, was expecting a fun, elegant story about royal love. Too crude for my taste.

But it was the choice in narrator that really ruined this production for me.

What three words best describe Dina Pearlman’s voice?

Older woman from New York who smokes cigarettes. I enjoyed the story but the voice was distracting. It did not match the youngish-Gwyneth Paltrow-look-alike main character. She sounds like a woman in her fifties with a masculine voice with a thick New York-accent. It is the worst match of a voice with a character I've ever listened to. I listen to many many audiobooks, especially cozies and the voice was a distraction for the entire story.

With that being said, Dina does a great job. She can't help how her voice sounds but the producers should've done a better job of matching the voice with the character.
