I really enjoyed this 2nd installment in the Gatekeepers Saga. I remember when I listened to the audio book of the first that I was a bit unsure, but I think in part that was my adjustment to listening to a book vs. reading it. But also part in just getting to know the characters and such.

The biggest issues I think I had is that the main character, Therese is 15 in the first book, and it seemed a bit unrealistic that an ancient Greek God, Thanatos would fall so deeply in love with her. It’s major robbing the cradle to me, lol. But I try to look past that, and think in a more supernatural way. So once I put that out of my mind, I was able to get into the book. And then continue to care about these characters in this book.

The excitement really picks up in this one. Therese has challenges that the Gods set for her, to earn their respect and immortality to be Thanatos’s wife (still too young, she’s just now 16, a child!). She is a strong and compassionate girl, and you can’t help but like her. She really cares for animals, and so do I, so that really helps me connect with her.

As for this being an Audible audio book, I think the reader did a great job, and has a pleasant voice. Easy to listen too.

I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who likes to dip into the mythology world, and doesn't mind the main character being so young. This book ended in a huge cliffhanger too! Man do I hate cliffhangers! But I have the rest of the saga, so can now start the next, yay!

5 out of 5 stars. It’s a captivating story.
I was gifted an audible audio book from the author, for my honest review. (Thanks Eva!!)

Fifteen-year-old Therese watches her parents die. While in a coma, she meets the twin sons of Hades-Hypnos (the god of sleep) and Thanatos (the god of death). She thinks she's manipulating a dream, not kissing the god of death and totally rocking his world. Than makes a deal with Hades and goes as a mortal to the Upperworld to try and win Therese's heart, but not all the gods are happy. Some give her gifts. Others try to kill her. The deal requires Therese to avenge the death of her parents.

The Gatekeeper's Sons was a well-thought-out mythical story. I found the Greek Mythology to be well researched and really enjoyed that part. Overall I actually really loved this story. I only have one small issue that made it feel like it would never had happened this way, and that is the fact that the main character Theresa, is a child, 15 is just too young to believe that she can go kiss a 1,000 year old God, and “rock his world” if you know what I mean, that’s just not something I can wrap my head around. But, looking past that, and in my mind changed her age to a more appropriate age, I then enjoyed it.

I think the twin brothers of Hades, Thanatos and Hypnos were great. I think Hip was funny and he brought some humor to the story. Than was sweet and was a great guy.
I do not want to give much away here, so will try not to spoil much.

I liked Theresa for the most part, her immaturity in the start changed as she had to deal with the death of her parents. I liked the touches with the horses, and all of that. There was more sadness to come in her life.

I also didn’t like the ending, and do not like cliffhangers either. It ended when it felt like it should not have. I listened to it on Audible audio book, and think this may have been some of my problem. It wasn’t the speaker; it was more that I was not actually doing the reading, thinking I didn’t care as much as I may have if I read it myself. I am not sure. This is the 4th audio book I have ever listened to, and don’t remember that happening before.

Anyway, I still liked it, and overall think it’s a great start to a probable great series. I certainly want to read book 2 asap.

I do recommend this book for sure. Especially if you’re a fan of the Greek Mythology in your paranormal stories. I think this was made more for younger teens, but I still enjoyed it as an adult.

I wanted to give this 4 1/2 stars but felt that was unfair, as it was only because of my personal feelings of her being 15. This story is written perfectly, and can't ask for anything to make it better (accept raise her age to at least 17-18 or more)

So I give it 5 stars as it does deserve it.

I was gifted Audible audio book copy from the author, for my honest review.

This review is also posted at my blog on 8/6 for a book tour, there is a giveaway as well.

Would you consider the audio edition of Echo to be better than the print version?

Not better, but equal. I just like to read myself too.

Any additional comments?

I just overall enjoyed this book. Will have an extensive review later at my blog and Amazon.
