On a very hot Fourth of July weekend, two strangers appear in Hopewell, Illinois, in the middle of a bitter steel strike. One, a Demon of the Void, will use the angry steel workers to attain his own terrible ends. The other, a Knight of the Word, dreams about a nightmarish future and spends every waking moment desperately trying to change its course. The fate of the town and, ultimately, of humanity depends on one exceptional 14-year-old girl, the only one who can see the otherworldly creatures that have begun to invade her home town.

[Contains some explicit content] Narrated by award-winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts; from the rationing of butter, to an explosion of war-related jobs, to mixed-signals about the role of women in society. Feel what living in the United States was like for everyday people during this disruptive and uncertain period of American history in the newest Audible Original series. Martha Little is the Executive Producer. Dan Gediman is the Series Producer.

The main character is pathetic and not well written. The dialogue seems to be written at the 5th grade level and the whole being "shocked" at profanity lost me. Oh - and her reaction to witnessing a murder? "I felt bad".... soooo - no depth there. Maybe this is a Christian writer, but it seemed as if she was just let out of a closet from the 1950's - people just don't talk like this. Maybe the series gets better in the later books, but this was not even worth the 4.95.

Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he's brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn't deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety.
