After killing his opponent in a duel, Lionel Maitland, Marquess of Axbridge, is known as the Duke of Danger. Tortured by guilt, he shields himself with a devil-may-care attitude. However, when he kills another man in another duel, he's beyond redemption, even though it wasn't his fault. He refuses to smear a dead man's name, especially when he's left behind a blameless widow who doesn't deserve an even bigger scandal.

Ms. Burke,
What in the world were you thinking pairing this couple up?
The HH doesn’t deserve the H. I don’t even care for her in previous story of her relationship with her previous husband.
It nearly drove me mad as the story goes on. More than once I wanted to end my misery. but being cheap, I had to finish for the price I paid.

Very enjoyable book. I like the 1st book best. The story of Edward. He just seem more charming. I also like like this book - the story of Charlie. I didn’t care so much for the 2nd book - story of the youngest brother. I didn’t like actions. Especially, the action to coerced answers out of his future wife plus he’s a soldier. In my opinion which made worst. No honor at all.

In the last 2 books, I starting to think the heroine is an idiot and not likable or deserving of the hero. I mean the villains wants to use her and she is all like ok. I.e allowing her name be known. She should say no! And beat the publisher guy senseless if he rat her out. Also, she have no business hanging out with those villains so collects magic items. It makes me want to ๐Ÿ˜ฑ scream!
Also, willie and the aunt is getting on my nerves. Willie too selfish and aunt is so whiny ๐Ÿ˜ซ
If next book going toward this direction, my support for this series and author ends here!

Wait! Maybe I’m the idiot for supporting up to know! [bang my head against the wall]

I was quite shocked how the hero treated the heroine. Verbal and physical abuses. But it’s the rape that made me sick. I don’t understand how the heroine call trust, love, or even laid with this the hero.

The cold, precise Duke of Montford demands things his way: neatly ordered, in place, and adhering closely to the rules. So he is furious when he learns that the tenant of his ducal estate has been dead for a year, and a stranger has been running the Honeywell business - which, by contract, is now Montford's. When he arrives in Yorkshire to investigate, he discovers that the estate is being run by an unruly, tomboyish woman - and a bluestocking at that!

Worst of all is the narrator!!! All most every character sound alike. Most irritating is 1 character (male cousin), sounds like a duck!!

But the book instead, pass on Audible!!

I only listen cos I got audio for free.
