I expected so much more action, according to reviews. This was not action packed, it was mostly grindingly boring, repetitive and could have used about 40 less chapters. I found myself skipping over whole parts of unnecessary rhetoric to find something meaty and substantial. And Ms. Churches’s narrative was so monotonous and uninvolved as to put me to sleep. Indeed it did, several times. The last few chapters finally picked up, but by then I had been bludgeoned by sheer and utter boredom.

What made the experience of listening to Hard Case the most enjoyable?

Kevin Pierce really brought the characters to life, and hit all the right notes in menace and humor! Pretty cool!

Who was your favorite character and why?

John of course. Tess really got on my nerves sometimes, and she never stopped through all the other books. Can I bitch slap her?

Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?

The Dark Lord was awesome! I laughed so hard people were staring when I was in public! I also really loved Al, and The Cleaner, Director, Crewella, I'll call her whatever she wants!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, and made me cheer when the idiots were dealt with with extreme prejudice! Mr Deleo pulls no punches, and I really like that he hits so hard!

Any additional comments?

As stated before, if John dies at the end, there will be blood!! Keep them coming, hurry up I'm waiting!!!

Start with a tough but vulnerable Chicago cop. Stir in a psychopath with a unique mental condition that programs him to kill. Add a hyperactive cat, an ailing mother, a jealous boyfriend, a high-maintenance ex-husband, and a partner in the throes of a mid-life crisis. Mix with equal parts humor and suspense, and enjoy Bloody Mary. When Jack receives a report of an excess of body parts appearing at the Cook County Morgue, she hopes it’s only a miscount. It’s not. Even worse, these extra limbs seem to be accessorized with Jack’s handcuffs.

The book was excellent and the narration brought it life! The characters are realistic and relatable and very, very human. I like that although Jeffrey and Sara had so many misunderstandings between them that they have a start to understanding each other and finding their way back inspite of past mistakes.
I really enjoyed the villain, the way the author did not shy away from the grisly descriptions. If you like chick lit with lots of sex and no real content, pass on this book!

Christine Hvam really is Jane!
Jane is entertaining, a butt kicking, name taking sister soldier who is often arrogant, a little thick romantically, and spends too much time with self introspection when lives depend on her. I have a suggestion Jane...if they are hurting other people and will continue to do without remorse...GET OVER IT!!!
Basically entertaining, action packed, and absolutely worth the credit!

I love Marliss Melton, I have all her books and I was so happy to see her on Audible. But....the narrator. I listened to the sample, thinking, hoping wishing the overly dramatized teen-age sounding voice would it improve, but no. I'm so disappointed. I'm not familiar with this narrator, I can barely understand her, and I really really wanted more from her. Maybe the next book will have a better narrator.

What did you love best about Poison Study?

The strength of the main character Yelena and and how hard she works to become a strong woman.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, one could not tell what nasty thing would befall our heroine next.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Marge tried to bully Yelena again and she bent her arm and put her face first against the wall! Sweet!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Yelena asks Varek what he wants from her, she is so vulnerable-and Varek says, everything!

Any additional comments?

Gabra Zackman has me for spoiled for other narrators. I feel that few can compete with her ability to bring the story to life with her voice.
