They’re not quite enemies, and not really friends. More like frustrated balls of sexual tension, Lance Gibson drives Mariah Malarkey absolutely crazy. He uses her office like a phone booth, and takes cupcakes from the corner of her desk like she baked them just for him. She didn’t. Maybe she knew the history teacher happened to love peanut butter icing, but that was purely a coincidence. Mariah has a way of getting under Lance’s skin, too. She calls him out on his crap, spoils him even if inadvertently, and, seeing the librarian in skirts, drives him wild. She won’t give in.

In 1999, Brooke "BB" Bradley met her Prince Charming. He was the tall, tattooed, wickedly handsome bass player for the up-and-coming rock band Phantom Limb. Hansel "Hans" Oppenheimer wore his heart on one sleeve and scrawled lyrics about BB on the other. Unlike the assholes of her past, he showered her with tenderness, took her places she'd never been before, and showed her the type of all-consuming love she'd thought only existed in fairy tales. But, like any good fairy tale, BB's road to happily ever after was paved with challenges, and right when she least expected it, it forked.

I received a complimentary audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review of Star: A 44 Chapters Novel. I loved 44 Chapters and Skin. I haven't read Speed yet but as soon as I'm done writing this review I'm going to use one of my coveted Audible credits to get it and immediately start listening. Even though I have about 10 years on BB AND grew up in New York city, I find her stories so familiar but way more entertaining. I feel a nostalgia reading these books. I loved diving in to BB's and Hans story. It was perfect. BB matured in this book. As far as narration, Ramona Master is perfect. She is truly the voice if the author. She brings so much feeling and I can't imagine anyone else narrating this series.
This book was awesome and I highly recommend Star and the whole 44 Chapters series. I'm so looking forward to Suit.

Ash: I still don't know how it happened. One minute, I was arguing with my arrogant competitor - our usual trash-talk over who deserves the larger commission. But somehow, I went from throwing down to kneeling down.... It can never happen again. I don't even like him. He's too slick. He's a manipulating, mansplaining party boy in preppy clothes. So why can't I get him out of my head? Sebastian: Ash is my missing my piece. She's the sweet cream to my gourmet espresso. And nothing gets me going faster than her contempt for me.

I received a complimentary copy of Man Card audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so much fun. The banter between Ash (Ash kicker) and Sebastian(Braht) was so entertaining. Ash is a strong woman even though she has had her fair share of life getting her down. She handled Brahts personality wonderfully. I loved Braht. He was apologetically metro sexual. Loved his facials and mani-pedis. His dialogue was hysterical. Every line of his was pure gold. I laughed so hard at the things that came out of his mouth. Man Card had its fair share of serious too but was cleverly offset with humor. I've read numerous books by Sarina Bowen but Tanya Eby is a new author for me, although I will now be checking out her books. Luke Daniels and Erin Mallon as narrators were spot on. This was the second in a series but can be read as a stand alone. I haven't read the first one yet and I wasn't lost at all.

Warrior Music by Denise Kahn was a mixed bag for me. There were pros and cons. I'll start with the cons. The recording was a little echoish. The narration was good. I feel like there wasn't enough feeling in this story. I think I would have connected more to the story if it was told in first person dual POV by Max and Sam. I didn't see them falling in love. Just all of a sudden they were.
Pros. I did like the premise. I liked the characters, just wanted more from them. My favorite parts were when Max was writing in his journal because you heard his POV. The ending was sweet.
Overall I would say it was an interesting book but could have been executed a little better.

Some days, all you need is a message from a stranger. Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional. Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn't count on was falling in love with the guy.

I wasn't sure how that was going to work because I didn't even read what the story was about. I like to go in cold. The two voices interacting with each other was such a wonderful listening experience. I felt the joy and wonder of meeting somebody and falling in love in their voices.

I just finished listening to Decadent Dreams by Nicole Garcia. There were things I liked and some things I didn't. I didn't like Phe. She is the reason for 3 stars. Her narration was good, it was just her character. I found her to be immature, whiney, and annoying. On the flip side was Nico. I liked Nico although I couldn't see what he saw in Phe. And Wen Ross narrating was just dreamy. I could listen to him read the phone book.
I would definitely read another book by Nicole Garcia. I'm actually hoping there will be a story with Derek and Josh. Also, Gio's story will make a interesting read.
