What disappointed you about Cold Shot?

This was so focused on the romanctics. I found it very disappointing. The commentary presented this as a mystery, but I couldn't get into it.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who are into romance novels might appreciate this book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Tracie Peterson again?

I will probably not pursue this author. Rather than her writings maturing, this seems to be evidence of falling back on a more immature theme.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was disappointed with this book. I went back several times to see if I missed something when chapter changes didn't make sense or have flow. I kept waiting for something unpredictable or suspenseful to occur, which it never did.

Any additional comments?

I categorize this book as a predictable teenage romance novel. The plot was difficult to follow audibly in spite of my having read the first two books of the series. The previous books held some suspense and less romance.

The Marine Special Operations Command ("MARSOC") is the newest component of the military's shift toward a fully integrated Special Operations Command structure. At first, the Marines were strongly against any Marines serving under anyone other than another Marine. Then 9/11 happened. In the years following, Marine forces found themselves growing more agreeable to inter-branch operational command, finally forming the Marine Special Operations Command in 2006.

What did you like best about Always Faithful, Always Forward? What did you like least?

I like the topic

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I didn't get that .

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I like the voice, which is one of my choosing criteria, but the reading was very technical and I did not find enough processing time or white space on the pages.

Do you think Always Faithful, Always Forward needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Those who have served in the military might appreciate follow-up, but not for me at my level of abbreviations

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The voice of the reader did not match the personality of the main character. I couldn't get past the pitch and tone of the voice to hear the story. There was no "white space" in the reading, no time to process. Words were moving too fast.

Has Deeper Water turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes. I would like to give the author another chance. I am considering the last book which has a different reader

How could the performance have been better?

Different reader

Any additional comments?

I'm sorry and disappointed. I like to read books within a series, but not with this reader.

In this warm-hearted puzzler, "Mary Minor Harry" Haristeen is preparing for her 20th high school reunion when trouble comes to the seemingly sleepy town of Crozet, Virginia. It all begins when classmates receive anonymous letters with a simple message: "You'll never get old." Some take the note as a compliment, others think it's a harmless practical joke. But when the class womanizer turns up dead, the message suddenly has a far more sinister meaning.

Would you try another book from Rita Mae Brown and/or Kate Forbes?

This is the first time listening to this author. There 7 characters introduced within the first chapter of this book. The first four characters are shallow, with too much in common to easily differentiate while listening. Adding 3 talking animals just adds to the confusion. I will not try another book from Rita Mae Brown.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something with less characters in the opening of the story, or something with characters who are developed more slowly.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Forbes’s performances?

Yes, possibly something with less characters.

What character would you cut from Pawing Through the Past?

The animals.
