Born in 1736, Patrick Henry was an attorney and a planter and an outstanding orator in the movement for independence. A contemporary of Washington, Henry stood with John and Samuel Adams among the leaders of the colonial resistance to Great Britain that ultimately created the United States. The first governor of Virginia after independence, he was reelected several times. After declining to attend the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Henry opposed the Constitution, arguing that it granted too much power to the central government.

Written with a sympathetic eye, the author, a fellow Virginian, does much service in educating modern readers of the greatness of Patrick Henry, one of our most eloquent and bedrock founding fathers!

In the darkest days of the American Revolution, Francis Marion and his band of militia freedom fighters kept hope alive for the patriot cause during the critical British southern campaign. Like the Robin Hood of legend, Marion and his men attacked from secret hideaways before melting back into the forest or swamp. Employing insurgent tactics that became commonplace in later centuries, Marion and his brigade inflicted losses on the enemy that were individually small but cumulatively a large drain on British resources and morale.

Fantastic book which gives a real look of the humane way of war that Gen. Washington wanted. No killing just for revenge or cruelty. Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, was deservedly called the George Washington of the South.

Whether saintly or satanic, no female leader has done more to shape our modern world, in which millions of people in two hemispheres speak Spanish and practice Catholicism. Yet history has all but forgotten Isabella's influence, due to hundreds of years of misreporting that often attributed her accomplishments to Ferdinand, the bold and philandering husband she adored.

Excellent narration. Story given from a sympathetic perspective, without hiding the flaws. I always admired Isabella for her finishing the re conquest of Spain from the ottomans and sponsoring Columbus. This bio only made me admire her more. She truly was the greatest monarch of the 15th century.

What if that thing you really feared happened? Would the joy you hold pop? Or would you experience love and joy deeper than you can imagine? They met in college and fell in love. They talked about getting married, and he started looking for a ring. They dreamed about life together, a life of beauty and joy, raising babies and laughing with friends and growing old. They did not imagine a car accident. They did not imagine his brain injury.

What a beautiful story of the complete devotion of Larissa to Ian through his disability. She is a picture of the devotion that the Lord Jesus Christ has to each of his brothers and sisters here on earth. Wow!
