Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is too good of an entertaining series not to recommend.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Shelby for her humor, her loyalty, her quick thinking and her dedication to her friends and family.

What about Wendy Tremont King’s performance did you like?

Everything! Ms King and Ms Helme are a perfect fit with this series. Ms. King does a fantastic job keeping voices consistent over all nine books and keeping each characters voice distinctive and recognizable throughout the nine book series.

Any additional comments?

This is the 9th book in the Shelby Nichols Adventure series and I hope Ms. Helme doesn't run out of adventures for Shelby and the gang any time soon!

This series is a light-hearted mystery/ suspense with likable and lovable characters, including the local mob boss and his hired gun! I thoroughly and completely like this series for its humor and the curious ways Shelby seems to attract trouble. This series is a great escape.

Shelby is a stay-at-home mom of two teens and an attorney's wife with the enviable ability to read people's minds. "Enviable", of course, is a matter dependent on the situation! Shelby uses her nearly secret talent to help the police solve current and cold cases, help the mob boss find out who's telling the truth and who's not, and help clients of her newly-created consulting agency. In this episode, everyone is hiding a little something and it's Shelby's good (or not-so-good) fortune to figure things out -- from solving the ten-year-old missing kids case, to finding the real diamond stealing double-crosser and helping Uncle Joey's son break the news to his dad that he's in his high school play/musical.

I am not certain there is another author/narrator duo as well-matched as Ms Helme and Wendy Tremont King. Ms King is beautifully consistent between all nine books and is excellent in keeping each character's voice distinctive and identifiable.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ms. Helme! I thoroughly loved sinking into this Shelby Nichols Adventure and I am (maybe-not-so) patiently waiting for book #10.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

There are many, many P&P variations out there. This was well done. Plain and simple.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I would want to listen and read all P&P variations in one sitting! I love P&P and truly enjoy Austen fan fiction to read other's take on plausible variations. I don't like when authors change P&P characters a lot -- somethings must be maintained as Miss Austen originally created!

Maybe -- this was a bit shocking. My only hesitation would be whether I can read/listen to another by this author and remain unbiased from this one.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

How far would you go to get what you wanted? That's the question author Catherine McKenzie addresses in Spin - a delectable debut novel that takes listeners into the connected worlds of pop culture, tabloid journalism, and celebrity rehab. The story of a newbie undercover gossip reporter who follows a troubled starlet into a rehab clinic intending to dig up all the dirt she possibly can, Spin is smart, hip, utterly engaging contemporary fiction in the vein of Jennifer Weiner and Emily Giffin.

Would you ever listen to anything by Rose Pressey again?

I am sorry to say, no. Sorry because I wanted to like this, but the writing was very weak, the main character was dull, the paranormal elements were naive, simplistic and contradictory.

Would you be willing to try another one of Elizabeth Klett’s performances?

I have no issues with the narrator, only with the repetitively written book she read.

What character would you cut from Me and My Ghoulfriends?

The only character I would KEEP from this book is the main character's best friend! She's interesting, has spunk, and calls a spade a spade.

Any additional comments?

One star to rate this book as "okay". This is a ghost paranormal, which comes off as a bit naive and unintelligent in comparison to other ghost and paranormal stories of today. The main character, Larue Donovan, is a ghost hunter and is written as contradictingly clueless -- she believes in ghosts because she sees, hears, talks to and interacts with them, but cannot seem to believe in witches or witchcraft. Furthermore, why write a ghost story with clueless ghosts who are awkwardly ignorant of their ghostly abilities and how they could possibly use their ghostly advantages to help Larue, the non-ghost they all care for?!!?

Larue is attracted to a newcomer to town and the two go on two or three dates, but there is a lack of chemistry for the reader to believe in the truth of their mutual attraction. Honestly, I enjoyed the main character's best friend and found her more interesting and believable than Larue and the new guy in town.

There are a few awkwardly phrased and incorrectly written sentences (i.e. one does not "sat" their purse down; one "sets" their purse down) giving the impression this is a debut effort, but it is not. There are many, many authors publishing many, many books in every genre every year. If an author cannot correct English grammar and correct mistaken or often misused words, then they push readers like me away.

I received this book free of charge as a Kindle Daily Deal. I purchased the whisper sync audio version at a reduced price and this weakly written book is enough for me to turn my preciously too-few hours of reading time away from any other books by this author.

If you are reading this review and are interested in chick-lit paranormal with a touch of romance, I wouldn't recommend this series.
