I loved this book and I find myself missing the characters now that I'm done with it. I literally feel a sense of loss without them! Few books have ever made me feel that way. Davinci Code, and a few others, but for the woman who goes through about 4-5 books a month and has done so for years, missing the characters really says something about the story. There's no critique I could give this book. The story drew me in and kept me riveted. Especially if you're a dog lover or someone who enjoys books with a genetic basis, you'll love it. It makes me want to meet Dean Koontz!

Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy. Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family. Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

I didn't find the main character believable at first. She was in her forties but displayed the insecurity of a 20 something. Yes, her abusive husband generated those insecurities but she appeared so dumb and it just made her an unbelievable character. Then about 20 chapters in I loved her!! I literally laughed out loud with her as she plotted. Unfortunately she wavered and for another big chunk of the book was insecure and questioning her sanity again. Given what she'd been through and her age I just didn't believe she was that naive. There are 2 great twists at the end that I saw coming but I didn't hold that against the author since I read psychological thrillers a lot. If you don't mind a naive, dumb main character, the story is great.

The story had that "unputdownable" pull and I was totally engaged. I will admit I predicted most of the outcome, but it did not diminish my enjoyment at all. However, what did definitely diminish my enjoyment was the sound effects of the performance. They were cheesy and did not enhance the listening experience at all! In some cases I cringed. Just read the story! Don't add lame sound effects.

I absolutely loved this story! I listen to probably 4 to 5 audible books a month and this is only the second review I've ever done but it was so good, I was compelled to review it.

I will admit that I did have it somewhat figured out about 10 chapters before it was revealed however, that just engaged me more. I was so sure I was right that if I'd had been wrong, I would have been disappointed.

This is actually one of those books where you feel a sense of loss when it's over because you're so engrossed you just want the story to keep going.

I highly recommend.

I read a lot of psychological thrillers and typically have them figured out rather early in the story. There were a few unexpected twists that I didn't see coming, which ultimately made me enjoy the story.

Early on in the story, I actually did not care for it much. In my opinion, things were drawn out and far more descriptive than I prefer, after listening to the interview with the author at the end, I now understand why.

I listened to this story via audible and I loathed the chat room portions of the book; it was terrible! The narrator would read the character's name before each post. It was only ever two people interacting so stating the characters ' names at every exchange was unnecessary and annoying. I almost gave up and quit listening to it.

In the end, I'm glad I pushed through the over the top descriptiveness and annoying chat room narration, because the story was great. I was surprised it was the author's first novel.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.
