Melena Sanders faced her fair share of danger with insurgents and terrorists when she served in the U.S. Army, but now she is about to go up against a new threat. Her best friend, Aniya, has disappeared while on a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska - a supernatural haven. Most humans have no idea darker races lurk amongst them. Mel knows better. If she wants to get her friend back, she's going to have to go in alone - but not unarmed. Melena has a few special skills the Army didn't provide, but the odds are still against her.

I enjoyed the storyline. However, I found the narrator very flat and uninteresting. It was difficult to get into the book, but, I finished it in one workday. I'll probably continue the series - since they're mostly in the Romance Package, and tolerate the voice.

I've tried, but, I just can't handle the narration of the "beast" in the Yellowrock series. In this book the narrators were not equal in sound quality, Ms Zackman was always much louder than Ms Hvam. Listening to it was difficult. The storyline was ok, but, the narration wasn't to my liking and made it a book I did not enjoy.

My name is Jemma Blackburn, and I have a secret. I know vampires are real. I watched one murder my father eight months ago, and even though they tried to convince me it didn't happen - that I'd lost touch with reality due to the trauma, I know what I saw was real. Hollow Hills is now the place I call home. It was supposed to be my chance at a normal life. My chance to bury my secret and start over.

Set in high school with characters and plots that are very High School. The beginning goes on and on. It does finally get more interesting in the last third of the book. Reader is only ok when listening at 1.25 speed. She also has some weird inflections and is very breathy.
