The extermination of Earth is at hand. With his increasingly irrational leadership Basil Wenceslas, chairman of the Hansa, has driven humanity into a corner. His punitive treatment of the Hansa colonies and the Roamers, as well as his refusal to aid an embattled Theroc, have made enemies for the people of Earth.

I loved the story but the biggest jarring issue was the way the narrator pronounced so many words and names differently than the previous books. I would think that it would be common to listen to how previous books were read and try and keep some continuity throughout.

Humanity is losing the war. The once-mighty space navies have been crippled, officers and crew have been stretched to the limit and Earth herself has come under heavy attack. The end cannot be long delayed. For Admiral Smith and the crew of HMS Ark Royal, the stakes have never been so high. The one hope is to make contact with alien factions that might oppose the war.

As with the other books in this series this one continued on the same trends. Canned phrases, constant repeating of sentences when pointless and an overt obsession with sex and sexuality.

Ark Royal - the Royal Navy’s outdated space carrier - has won a smashing victory against the enigmatic aliens, capturing one of their starships and returning to Earth. Now, Admiral Theodore Smith and his crew are assigned to command a fleet charged with making a deep-penetration raid into alien territory, a fleet made up of carriers from four different nations. From what I expected this book was strange. The author has a strange obsession with the female anatomy and sex in general. Not like there is anything wrong with it, but when it's used it seems out of place and random. Also details about ships, places etc are constantly repeated as if the author was trying to just fill space.
