In general, I love Robin Hobb's stories but I was hoping that there would be more short stories revolving around the Rain Wilds, Elderlings, Farseers.... The stories were ok but it wasn't overly engaging. Saskia does a brilliant job though with the performance.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

The Martian is one of those truly captivating books that will leave you struggling to stop listening. Incredibly well written and narrated with absolute precision by RC Bray.
I am not going to ruin the story by revealing any of it - suffice to say this is a MUST for all booklovers.
10/10 from me!

When an unknown someone shoots him and leaves him to die, Harry Dresden hopes he might be heading to a better place. Unfortunately being dead doesn't make Harry's life any easier. Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Only by finding his murderer can he save his friends and move on - a feat that would be a lot easier if he had a body and access to his powers. Worse still are the malevolent shadows that roam Chicago, controlled by a dark entity that wants Harry to suffer even in death.

I first listened to this book when read by John Glover. I liked the story but I didn't love it as I had all the previous books. I put it down to the fact that it wasn't James Marsters reading and that it just didn't feel like I was with the same characters. Now that it has been re-recorded, its an entirely different story. For me the book has now come to life in a way that John Glover was not able to do. Highly recommend this.

In Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race, Raoul Duke (Thompson) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (inspired by a friend of Thompson) are quickly diverted to search for the American dream. Their quest is fueled by nearly every drug imaginable and quickly becomes a surreal experience that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. But there is more to this hilarious tale than reckless behavior, for underneath the hallucinogenic facade is a stinging criticism of American greed and consumerism.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different narrator! The tone of voice was so damn annoying I didn't bother finishing the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?

Unfortunately I didn't finish listening.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ron McLarty’s performances?

NO!

Any additional comments?

Watch the movie, its more entertaining.
