Living in a virtual game world sounds like the ultimate dream. Plenty of action, intrigue, and guess who gets to be the big hero? But what happens when that digital reality gets flipped on its head? Bad guys are after your sweet loot, your fancy title is loaded with unrealistic expectations, and achieving such a high level comes with a big fat target on your back. Something has to give, so when a new crusader faction rolls into town, Talon senses an opportunity.

During her first weeks in the deeply immersive VR game, Relic Online, she’s hacked out a home from a choking jungle, gathered a tribe of loyal followers, and earned a wisp stalker who insists she’s some kind of champion. But Relic Online isn’t some wussy kids game, and there will be no easy-street cruising for Devon. Like a monk racking up combo points, the system opens a fresh offensive by crippling her most powerful ability. Following through, it strangles the village food supply, sends demons bursting through rifts in the Earth, and delivers a final, devastating throat punch.

Great book.
Enjoyed it and I think any fan of the series will as well.

My only issue is that there was no end of book chapter or two giving a peak at our MC, kinda blowing off the all encompassing overview feel the previous books have given us, when the end book has given POV of Max’s group.
Why no vice-versa at eob, here?

Anyway great book, great story, and great performance.
Podehl has done Akella proud again.

One player has managed to upset the game world's balance, and now he's hunted by everyone. Lazarus Cain is a member of the Grim Shadows, one of the Thieves Guilds in the city of Eberia. Unfortunately, Lazarus is having a bad day. Waking up in a torture chamber, suffering from amnesia, he'd be pretty much screwed if not for the mysterious, magical sigil burned into his chest. Sometimes a really bad day should be shared with others, especially professional torturers.

While the book was good, I found myself spacing out during some of it. I had to rehash those parts.

The reason was because it just wasn’t what I expected or wanted to see, as I was expecting a book 2 not a side story in the same world. I expected the world/city building of book 1, but got something altogether different and while not bad, not what I or I assume others wanted.

Story was good.
Performance by Daniels was excellent as expected.
Overall could have been a 5 but I just couldn’t rate it that out of personal disappointment. 4-

Daniels gave a great performance.

Halloran is a good writer.
I enjoyed the overall story a lot.
The characters were well thought out and well defined.

I thought that the MC was possibly written to be the stupidest SOB I’ve ever heard of.
He acted so damned dumb that I almost quit listening multiple times.

However even with that, the story was good and enjoyable.

Lee Alan did a great job with the narration, it was a great performance.

Great story with just enough action and intrigue to wrap everything into a good feeling of what’s about to happen.
I liked the narration, it was well done.
