Russia gains a new tsar, a signal to the world that the imperial Russia is back and plans to have her day. In America, a killer known only as Happy the Baker brutally murders an innocent family and literally flattens the small Midwestern town they once called home. Just a taste, according to the new tsar, of what will happen if America does not back down. Alex Hawke is the only man who can stop the madness.

Another great book by Ted Bell! Very interesting plot with many twists and read by John Shea who made it come to life!! His narration is as good as the great George G. I’ve listened to the series starting with the Lions of Lucerne and am looking forward to the next in this series!

I read this in the early 80's and was blown away with Rand's insight into those who don't understand anything about a free market economy. Carter was proving to be a disaster and the whole re-definition of Government, manhood, character etc was not being challenged by many in the media or public discussions (Bill Buckley and Bill Simon were lights in the darkness then). I disagree with her values of selfishness, but the novel as a whole was insightful and, having re-read it this year, continues to prove prophetic!

Winston Churchill is perhaps the most important political figure of the 20th century. His great oratory and leadership during the Second World War were only part of his huge breadth of experience and achievement. Studying his life is a fascinating way to imbibe the history of his era and gain insight into key events that have shaped our time.
