Great plot, but all of that foul language and intimacy was unnecessary. Also, don't play the drinking game every time he asks her if she's alright

I've listened to a few of these books. Some of the male leads have strange names. I can understand Rowdy (Yates from "Getting Rowdy") because his parents liked Clint Eastwood, but who names their son Dare or Trace?

I read the manga first, and I liked it. This book is not as long and dragged out as her books that come out later. It's good that it's a stand alone and not part of a series.
I'm currently listening to Run the Risk (12 hours of foul mouths and smut) which is not nearly as good.

I liked the general idea of the book (being on the run from organized crime), but there was way too much foul language and I found the main characters' graphic physical reactions to each other and their "love" scenes very off-putting.
("Rowdy Yates" is also the name of a character on the old TV series Rawhide.)
Since I'm listening to this seven years after it had been released and sequel books have appeared since, I'm not crazy about the overuse of not trusting characters who lead in those books. I'm guessing there will be changing of minds by the end.

This is the 2nd book in a row I've read by this author with kinky senior citizen neighbors.

I've read a lot of the Nocturne Falls books, and this is kind of different. There is some foul language, but the love scene isn't too graphic. On the Audible screen, all of the "Bael" chapter titles read "Bayou"

I like the various voice actors for each character. It reminded me of the old time radio programs. I wondered why Kristen wasn't there until I found out that Lucky Suit, her story, takes place after this book. Unfortunately I had listened to LS first. LS has much less profanity.
You'd think the male lead would have pulled the "I saw her first" card. The other guy's picture should have been in the dictionary under "c**kblocking".
In Chapter 10, the chocolate company meeting that suffers from bullying by the potato chip company is lame. What, are they in the 3rd grade?

Don't miss the outtakes. They're hilarious!

Were all of those F-bombs really necessary? The extreme language in the shower scene was off-putting. It's why I stopped listening to J.S Scott's books.
