It's Christmas 1909, and for once Lady Hardcastle - respectable gentlewoman, amateur spy - and her lady's maid, Florence Armstrong, are setting sleuthing aside. They are invited to the festivities up at The Grange, as guests of Sir Hector and Lady Farley-Stroud. But barely have corks been popped and parlour games played when a mysterious crime comes to light.

I began to suspect something was wrong with the gothic building when its family fled in the middle of the night, the children screaming, the mother crying. They never came back to pack up their furniture. A new occupant, Anna, has just moved in. I paid her a visit to warn her about the building. I didn't expect us to become friends, but we did. And now that Marwick House is waking up, she's asked me to stay with her. I never intended to become involved with the building or its vengeful, dead inhabitant. But now I have to save Anna.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Waste Lands to be better than the print version?

Absolutely, because I just simply would not be able to read this book. I need the audio because I can then listen during drives and while working.

What did you like best about this story?

Bringing Jake back into the story. I love that boy!

Have you listened to any of Frank Muller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes - always a wonderful performance!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Roland and Jake's struggle to reconcile their doubled timelines.

Any additional comments?

This whole series is awesome, made much easier to enjoy because it's in audio format.
