In the first four Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summoned up for us worlds that are fantastic and distant, making them as resonant, real, and immediate as our own. Now, in her most daring and darkest novel yet, she takes us, with Lestat, into the mythical world that is most important to us - into the realms of our own theology.

Hardcore Self Help: F**k Depression is the follow-up to the best-selling F**K Anxiety. In this book I take the information, tips, and insights that I have gained as a psychologist and translate them into language that doesn't suck. This is the self-help book for people who don't usually like self-help books. In Hardcore Self Help: F**K Depression, I talk to you like a friend. That means I speak directly to you, without psychobabble. Instead I tell you why your brain is such a troll.

Would you try another book from Joel Joel Thielke and/or Rachael Meddows?

sorry to say but the story she tells is horrific. i know they're trying to make a point about letting go, but killing a bird? couldn't they think of another story? it didn't resonate with me. and then you tell the story again in a different chapter. not good.

What was most disappointing about Joel Joel Thielke’s story?

bad option for people trying to let go

Has The Disappearance of the Universe turned you off from other books in this genre?

no

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

no the narration was HORRIBLE!! all three of them are horrible. one sounds like Christopher Walken as a computer that breathes heavily, the other guy sounds like a movie announcer and then there is Doreen Virtue. LOL

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

the story and the attempt at being funny was a bit disappointing. the way it is presented makes it very hard to believe. he conveniently asks questions to try to convince the reader/listener that what is happening is real. the way the 2 "teachers" talk to him seem quite unbelievable. just seems like a big plug to buy the book Course in Miracles. he must have some connection to the original author.

What was most disappointing about Samantha Shannon’s story?

it's boring! every time i tried to listen to it, i fell asleep. the narrators voice is so monotone. all the voices were at the same level of tone. i couldn't tell who was who talking sometimes. the story could have been better too.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alana Kerr’s performances?

Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?

Maybe. It was more like a podcast or listening to a morning talk show. Some parts were funny.

If you’ve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?

First time hearing these guys.

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

The guys voice overs were funny when they read the stories.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

What bothered me was it started slow. I kept wanting them to read the freaking story already. The one guy's laugh sounded like he was having an asthma attack and it was hard to not focus on how annoying it was.
