A mysterious stranger known as 'The Wolf' leaves an infant with the sisters of Santo Spirito. A tiny silver key hidden in her wrappings is the only clue to the child's identity and so begins a story as intriguing and beautiful as the city of Florence itself. Belinda Alexandra's new novel, Tuscan Rose, is set in Italy during the time of Mussolini. This richly woven tale of passion, love, longing, witchcraft and magic promises to be everything her readers love and more.

I found this novel was so slow in the beginning that I began to skip to other chapters. Each chapter had the same boring rhythm. My mind was drifting away from the story. I could not continue as it bored me so much so stopped half way. Maybe granny in a rocking chair would like to listen to this slow pace but I had to return it.

In 1985, two 27-year-old friends left their suburban Detroit homes for a hunting trip in rural Michigan. When they did not return, their families and police suspected foul play. For 18 years, no one could prove a thing. Then, a relentless investigator got a witness to talk, and a horrifying story emerged. In 2003, this bizarre case hit the glare of the criminal justice system, as prosecutors charged two brothers, Raymond and Donald Duvall, with murder.

I found this book soooo slow moving. Could not concentrate on it as it moved inch by inch. It got very convoluted and every conceivable detail was regurgitated. Could not continue especially when there was no surprise as the write-up told you who was going to be arrested for the crime anyway!!

Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

This book is very misogynistic and has two men who practice this behaviour. One is a cop and the other is a serial killer. The so called heroine aides and abets all of this. The text has many cliches - peppered with banal sexual banter between the "good guy" and the "bad guy". I tried my best to plough on but had to stop and return!! I was being generous with one star!!

The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.
