I like where the story is going between him and Turov as well.

Parren factions jostle for control of not only Defiance, but of the drysine data-core that Phoenix won at such an awful price. But the parren do not lay sole claim to that ancient knowledge, and within the bowels of the machine-city, something long-dead is awakening. While aliens battle, Captain Debogande struggles to decide his next step. Human emissaries beckon him home, while a terrible new threat drives him toward the far edge of Spiral space.

I look forward to the next.

Not sure how many of you have read the Lost
Fleet series but this one continues to approach it in sheer enjoyment. Few series have made me look forward to delving in as this one. Between the writing style and Kafer as narrator (who is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators) this is a winning series.

I look forward to many more!

After years of agonizing toil and hardship, we have finally built a first-rate fleet, forcing our hostile neighbors to accept our freedom. But in the center of the galaxy, a bitterly vengeful woman discovers the secret of the Plutonians. Mr Hamilton is very good at building background, almost too good. I got lost in the characters and time jumping for the first 1/4 of the book but then the patter stabilized and it made sense.

I still feel like a lot of the background was not truly needed and focusing on the story would have been better. It’s not quite as engrossing or grand as the Commonwealth stories however it has the potential.

I look forward to the next.
