My life was perfect - until a shocking tragedy pulled the rug out from underneath me. My children were left without a father. I was without a husband and a provider. Instead of wallowing in my grief, I buried myself in my work at Dovetail Enterprises. Landing the promotion as the CEO’s right hand was exactly what I needed. Getting saddled with Milo Huxley as an assistant is exactly the opposite. I can’t stand him. He’s arrogant, irresponsible, and out for my job. As if that’s not bad enough, he has to be devastatingly sexy, and have a posh English accent that makes me squirm on top of it all.

This story picks up just before the events in NOT UNTIL YOU, that changed Danielle's family forever. Danielle and her kids have suffered an unimaginable loss. Still grieving and trying to simply make it through each day without crumbling, she isn't looking for a relationship or expecting to find love again. Dating isn't even on her radar. When, Milo, the snarky and sexy brit shows up, he shakes up everything. Milo is out for revenge. Determine to take back what's rightfully his, no matter the cost. He doesn't expect that person to be a woman, let alone one that has so much to lose.

Corinne Michaels is an auto buy author for me. When I saw that her next release was going to be an Audible first exclusive release, I knew I had to read it. As an avid audiobook reader, I have to say I was quite excited to see that we were going to get this book early. The male narrator for this book is Shane East is one of my favorites and I probably would have purchased this book just to have him read it to me! I enjoyed the female narrator as well. I've listened to a few other books that used her, including one from Corinne's Return to Me series. I feel like narrators voices really pulled it all together.

Seeing this their love evolve and both of their walls slowly crumbling own was so heartwarming. I enjoyed watching Milo’s quest for revenge change to a quest to make Danielle happy. Milo is sassy, with a hard exterior but a soft heart. Danielle puts on a good show and has more strength than she knows. The couple in this story is one of my favorites in this world. I found their relationship so natural which I found refreshing. The book was a perfect end to this series of spin off stories. I'm going to miss all these characters now that it's over. I definitely recommend this book! Not an audiobook readers? The book will be available in print in January

What made the experience of listening to Hey Sunshine the most enjoyable?

I've seen this book around for years but had never gotten around to reading it. I love a good romance story, so when the opportunity to listen to this audiobook for review came about, I jumped at it. Tia did a great job developing here characters and I enjoyed the story. There were a few parts where I found the story a bit slow, but I definitely wasn't expecting the ending.

Avery Kent's life changed after her high school boyfriend left her without a word to chase a thrill by fighting wild-land fires. When he unexpectedly reaches out to her after years she decides to give him another chance. Chase comes back into her life expecting to pick up where things left off. He struggles with how her life has changed since he left.

What about Amanda German’s performance did you like?

The narrator did a good job. I really enjoyed that she used an accent (maybe it's her regular voice) while narrating. Since the book is set in the south it made it feel like more of an authentic narration. She did well separating between the characters, I didn't find myself getting lost as to who was speaking.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself swooning, anxious and invested in what would happen next for these characters. Overall I would recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading Night Fox, the conclusion to the story.

Any additional comments?

I noticed that there was a strange echo/background noise but otherwise really enjoyed her voice.

Travis King is the worst kind of a**hole. He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards. He's cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes. And I hate him. He's always loved getting under my skin, and one night against my better judgment, I let him in my bed. I've succumbed to his manw**re ways, but that doesn't change a thing. Because the King is about to get played at his own game - and lose.

If you could sum up Checkmate: This Is War in three words, what would they be?

I loved This is War! Then tension and banter were amazing. Great character development and the story kept me on my toes. My only wish is that there was also a male narrator. I sometimes get lost when the book has alternating POV's and one voice does both.

Did Lia Langola do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She did a great job and I'm very impressed with her narration. I would have preferred a male to narrate the Travis chapters.
