Lucy has been writing her dissertation on Sappho for nine years when she and her boyfriend break up in a dramatic flameout. After she bottoms out in Phoenix, her sister in Los Angeles insists Lucy dog-sit for the summer. Annika's home is a gorgeous glass cube on Venice Beach, but Lucy can find little relief from her anxiety - not in the Greek chorus of women in her love addiction therapy group, not in her frequent Tinder excursions, not even in Dominic the foxhound's easy affection.

I wasn’t sure whether to give this book five stars or zero. I confess that I literally listened to it in its entirety in 2 days. It is so unusual and deep and messed up that it was kind of like watching a car accident or other tragedy with morbid curiosity. In the same way I’m not sure if her insanity fascinated me or if that made me insane to be fascinated by it, especially because, being a veterinarian, I totally knew what would be the outcome of the book in relation to her dog, and still was remained riveted until I finished the book. I also see some parallels between this book and my own mid life crisis, although I fancy myself as approaching it from a more sane and rational point of view. It’s very interesting and thought provoking..... or annoying ... you be the judge.

It started out like any other morning on the train - until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle. He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world. Who did the stuck-up suit think he was...God? Actually, he looked like a god. That was about it.

I've read a lot of romances. Couldn't finish this one. Can't take the whining and immaturity.

Have sex with a stranger in a foreign country. It was on my list. It was something I'd never done before, and I wasn't sure if I could go through with it. But I did. That one night was the best night of my entire life. He was sexy, intense, and made me feel things I had never felt before. The next morning, the thrill was over, and he was gone before I woke up. What happened in London should have stayed in London, but it didn't. I was never supposed to see him again, but the universe had other plans.

Lots of passive aggressive behavior, childish behavior and immature attitudes toward relationships mixed with discussions about dinner, pats on the back for occasionally helping a homeless man and then pretending they actually did something selfless . Wow. Couldnt even finish his one.

When a phone call brings news that she’s inherited a beautiful old home in Mendocino, California from a long-forgotten aunt, she moves her entire life across the country to embark on what she sees as a great, romance-novel-worthy adventure. But romance novels always have a twist, don’t they? There’s a cowboy, one that ignites her loins. Because Cowboy Hank is totally loin-ignition worthy. But there’s also a librarian, Clark Barrow. And he calls her Vivian. Can tweed jackets and elbow patches compete with chaps and spurs?
