Wow, this one really surprised me. I HATED Snake... but Nick, he grew on me. There had to be a suspension of some beliefs set in reality, but taking the overall story in - I ended the book with a smile and a little bitty book hangover.

Gahh! What an incredible way to wrap up the Slow Burn series. This was my favorite of the three and Matteo was definitely my favorite book boyfriend of the series.

Along with this being heartfelt, well written and funny - I absolutely loved the co-stars! I loved Jenner's dry British humor and one liners ("Spill bitch spill!) and I even developed an affinity for Brad in the end.

The audio version of this is definitely worth an audible credit - because hearing Matteo's swoon worthy Italian accent - ovary explosion

Socially awkward Joellen Bixby has a date every Saturday - with her cat, a pint of ice cream, and fantasies of the way-too-handsome Michael Maddox. Cameron McGregor is a cocky, tattooed Scottish rugby captain who just moved in next door. He’s not Jo’s type - at all - but the notorious playboy is offering to teach the wallflower everything he knows about inspiring desire.

This was really cute and definitely followed the "slow burn" formula. I loved Cam from the start but I was extremely frustrated with our heroine and her idiotic obsession with her boss.

It was a fun read and there were some great one liners in there - my favorite being "If you were on life support, I would unplug you to charge my phone"

This one was a little difficult to decide on what rating to give it. I ran into another situation of maintaining an extreme dislike for the main male character. I also found Gillian to be a weak-willed overly forgiving TMI volunteering heroine.

That aside, the writing was really good and the story was cleverly crafted (like my alliteration there lol). Ultimately, I decided to give it 3.5 - 4 stars for the quality of the story weaving and the bit of suspense at the end. Character choices aside, Whitney G delivered a book worth listening to in its entirety during a day and a half of commuting.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases - a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with as well as way less experience in the dating department than the average 30-year-old. It doesn't help that she has Asperger's and that French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. She decides that she needs lots of practice - with a professional - which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.

[edit]

I can't believe I slept on this book for so long!! It gave me yet another book hangover and Michael officially takes this week's title as ultimate book boyfriend.

I love that we get to learn a little about what people with Aspergers go through on a daily basis, but that it doesn't mean they can't and aren't just as worthy of recieving true unconditional love.

Stella (in my head I will always scream it like "Stelllllaaaa!" a la A Street Car) and Michael both deal with so many insecurities that they can't get out of their own way when it comes to a finding a meaningful relationship. But once they find each other, it is only then that they find the self-acceptance that they have been lacking.

I am also a huge fan of Carly Robin's narration. She is a total girly girl, but her male voices somehow still work for me somehow.

I LOVED this book and I'm So glad I finally checked it off my to-read list before the end of 2018

Terrorists-for-hire have created a weapon that can induce earthquakes and cause dormant volcanoes to erupt. One terrifying side effect of the weapon is that prior to the devastation, the vibrations drive ordinary people to suicide and violence. A wave of madness begins sweeping the country beginning with a mass shooting in Congress. Joe Ledger and his team go on a wild hunt to stop the terrorists and uncover the global superpower secretly funding them. At every step the stakes increase as it becomes clear that the endgame of this campaign of terror is igniting the Yellowstone caldera.

<Sigh> I can honestly say this was worth the wait! Hands down in the top 3 best books of the series. Ledger, Ghost and the gang are faced with a new face on an old foe in Deep Silence (no spoilers). Action scenes are top notch, we get new light shed on character backgrounds and see the home team save the day by the - literal- skin of their teeth.

A side note (mild spoiler): While I thought the depiction of the fictitious new commander in chief was funny and played well with the banter we have come to know and love - some who have a less evolved sense of humor may get their panties in a bunch at the coincidental similarities to a real life "character".

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one. After 17 years - and countless broken bones and broken promises - she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close. But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she's spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Ok, first I should preface this review with the fact that, although I have read many amazing books in the past 6 months, I have not felt compelled to leave a review. Mariana is an automatic buy for me, I have all her books in both kindle and audio versions and I have lost count of how many times I have re-read them.

From Lukov With Love has officially moved into the number one spot of my favorite MZ books. I Love Jasmine's scrappy attitude, and Ivan (Vanya) was a total dream once we moved past his defenses. This book was... just perfect. I loved every minute of the almost 15 hour book! I haven't giggled and laughed that much while reading in a long time. The dual narration really added so much to the story, and Teddy Hamilton is a perfect voice for Ivan. Thanks Marianna for continually putting out such quality, well researched concepts, and amazing characters to fall in love with!

They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They're right. No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking. He is my forbidden, shiny apple. The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth. He is also my sister's ex-boyfriend. One thing you should know before you judge me: I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first. Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance. Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. Hopefully, he isn't too late.

I finished this in one night because I just couldn't tear myself away from Dean & Roasie's story. initially I was not happy to hear about Ruckus hooking up with "baby LeBlanc" but after their story started coming out I was hooked. This was such a heartbreakingly beautiful story that gave me all the feels as is typical for an LJ Shen novel. I absolutely fell in love with Dean and Rosie's love and I'm positive anyone who hears this will too.

So, normally I just rate the books after I finish them and rarely do I feel inclined to leave a written review these days. THIS book, however, left me with so many feels that I had no choice but to write a few words down just so I could prolong the wonderful afterglow from listening to this story.

Initially, I thought the main draw to this story would be the "taboo" aspect of the romance - but it was so much more than just a story about a younger girl and an older guy. Tor and Kenzi's history was beautifully woven throughout the story in brief flashbacks which did not detract from the present tense.

I really enjoyed the slow burn of the push and pull during the first half, and the spice of the second half of the story was even more fun to listen to. I will definitely be revisiting this story again soon and I look forward to reading Tyler's story next.
