I really enjoyed this collection of short stories based on the characters from The Guild of the Cowry Catchers and The Scarlet Albatross. The look into their pasts to see where they came from allowed me to see the growth of these characters into the people they become in the novels.

Even if you are unfamiliar with the novels, these stories are self-contained and well written, so having read the novels is not a requirement. The only downside I can see is some of the terminology can get a bit confusing if you're unfamiliar with the world of Panamindorah.

The writing of the author and performances by the voice actors are superb. Combined with the production quality, these stories sprang to life, which allowed me to experience a wide range of emotions throughout this volume of short stories. This is great material to fuel the theatre of the mind.

Would you listen to Secret Things again? Why?

Yes. I actually have listened to these stores at least once already and they're still enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

This gave the characters I've come to know from Panamindorah greater depth and more importantly, understanding. To know the circumstances that shape these characters allows them to really come to life.

Which character – as performed by Abigail Hilton – was your favorite?

Thessalyn from the first story of the collection, "Sky Dance". Particularly when Abigail Hilton performs a part of the story that had me anguished and near to tears with empathy. Glad I was alone for that one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The secrets that made them who they are.

Any additional comments?

What did you love best about Crossroads?

Having more to experience and learn in the unique world that Abigail Hilton has created.

What did you like best about this story?

Crossroads provided an engaging glimpse into the pasts of various characters from Panamindorah and Cowry Catchers. To those who already know the stories of the Panamindorah series and Cowry Catchers, like me, this fleshes out the world a bit more and we get a better understanding of the motivations of these characters. If you don't know the stories, then you'll get to see some interesting and and turbulent histories of characters years before the main stories take place.

Have you listened to any of Abigail Hilton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the performances featured in Abigail Hilton's stories. While Panamindorah and Cowry Catchers have full cast performances adding that little extra something to the listening experience, Crossroads has many readings by Abigail Hilton, who normally has a narrators role. Despite this, her readings are still emotive, engaging, and well produced. I could very easily listen to her read (and perform) day in and day out.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I very easily could have, but I chose to listen to this on my brief drives to work. The short story format with its contained story lines lent itself to not needing to know what was happening next, but within each story, I found it difficult to stop before it was finished.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Guild of the Cowry Catchers to be better than the print version?

The use of a full cast and good acting make the audio version of Cowry Catchers a unique and better experience to the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

The story arcs of Cowry Catchers takes characters that I cared about through an epic adventure and surprising, gut wrenching low points for an amazing experience.

What does Abigail Hilton and Full Cast bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The full cast performances conveyed emotions and nuances that I might have glossed over and since Abigail Hilton both wrote and produced the audio, this is still the creator's vision.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were most definitely a few points in this series of books that made me feel intense emotions. Particularly one that compelled me to contact the author on her forums to express my shock at some tragedy that befalls a major character, which is not something I do.

Any additional comments?

While the story isn't one that is revolutionary, the concept, characters, and storytelling make this a great and memorable tale.
