After spending most of his young life driving cattle from Texas to Nevada, Will Tanner is ready to wash the trail dust from his throat. Maybe it was fate that brought him to the Morning Glory Saloon on the border of Indian Territory - or just plain bad luck - because right after his sits down three rough-looking characters walk into the bar with vengeance in their eyes, guns at their sides...and fingers on their triggers. The trio's target is the famous US Deputy Marshal Dove who arrested one of their kin - and who's sitting in the bar near Will Tanner.

Stupid boy fantasy. First scene a mean horse killed Hightower. Any animal that deliberately kills a human should be put to death. The horse should have been destroyed and butchered. Instead Will Tanner tries to salvage it by breaking it. Later he kills the horse after the horse tried to hurt him and another rider.

A bunch of different episodes about men being stupid, bullies, or cowards and getting themselves and others killed or killing innocent people.

This is not how the majority of people actually behaved during this time period. This is not how real men behave now. I was hoping to glean information about old timey living, but the author does not seem to really know anything about the time period.

I stopped listening halfway through because after 4 hours of bleck, I did not think it was going to improve. Disappointing.

5 hours 55 minutes not a bargain. Story line the usual prepper boring - constitution lecture in chapter 2, evil Homeland Security and UN, guns and fighting, and happy ending conclusion. Romance ok.

The Narrator makes me forget she is a woman, she is terrific at doing the genders, accents, and different ages.

I recommend Book 1 but not Book 2. I will listen to Book 1 several more times.

She has been paying close attention to the economy, both around the world and at home. As she sees signs in her own community of the slowing of the economy, she begins to experience premonitions of a cataclysm to come.

Length 10 hours a bargain. Very, very good logistics explanation of preparing. I usually don't listen to women authors because they seem silly and immature. Diana Anderson tells a realistic story about practical, strong, capable women...as well as men. Women that are NOT competing with men, but each gender/adult has knowledge and strengths they contribute to strengthen their community. Appreciated that fighting was a small component of the story line. Appreciate the realistic portrayal of adult life is a LOT about work. Loved the nurturing, caring for, educating of the children.

For centuries, the Vikings have swept out of the Norse countries and fallen on whatever lands they could reach aboard their longships, and few could resist the power of their violent onslaught. They came at first to plunder and then to settle, an encroachment fiercely resisted wherever they went. Such was the case in the southern lands of Ireland. En route to the Viking longphort there, known as Dubh-linn, Thorgrim Night Wolf and Ornolf the Restless stumble across an Irish ship.

I had about 3 hours 16 minutes left when I realized how revolting this story was and what was I doing wasting my time. There were no admirable people in the story, even the so called Christians evil. Murderous. Violent. Demonic element thrown in. And most damning, I learned nothing - not about history or sailing or anything. I had listened to book 7 out of order, which I liked, so I thought I would go back to book 1 and listen in order. Nope.

Driven ashore on the coast of Ireland, their longships nearly wrecked by the gods who seem unwilling to let them leave, Thorgrim Night Wolf and his band of Northmen once again face a fight for their survival. Helpless without their ships, they must find some refuge in that hostile country and begin the laborious work of making the vessels seaworthy again. But for all the shipbuilding skills that Thorgrim and the others possess, there is one thing they cannot do - weave cloth to replace the sails shredded in the gale that drove them ashore.
