Except Cassandra Reed’s real name is Sarah Smith and up until now, she lived her whole life in the Warren, serving a magical family, the Winters, as all non-magical “Snipes” are bound by magical Guardian law to do. Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

First off Santino Fontana was an amazing reader. I will be following him in the Audible world. This story is dark and twisted. And strangely you find the psychopath in this story charming, witty, hilarious at times. It was a bit more drawn out than it needed to be... I was wishing to be over it 3/4 of the way through. But, although not my type of book, it was good, different and kudos to the author.

The narrator had a good voice, performance was well done. The story was slow, author did do a good job of painting a vivid picture of the back drop, left me wanting a trip to Alaska... specifically a small town in Alaska. But my genre is more mystery, this was heavy on romance which is fine, but left me needing more twists and turns, more thrills and more guessing. I knew who the culprit would be before the murder.
