Hugh d'Ambray, Preceptor of the Iron Dogs, Warlord of the Builder of Towers, served only one man. Now his immortal, nearly omnipotent master has cast him aside. Hugh is a shadow of the warrior he was, but when he learns that the Iron Dogs, soldiers who would follow him anywhere, are being hunted down and murdered, he must make a choice: to fade away or to be the leader he was born to be. Hugh knows he must carve a new place for himself and his people, but they have no money, no shelter, and no food, and the necromancers are coming. Fast.

I loved getting to know Hugh. He was not a good man, and I'm glad they didn't have him do a 180. There was lots of suspense, excellent writing and a very sexy narrator. His variety of accents was impressive. Hugh's voice was perfect with amazing inflections and a lovely accent. worth listening to more than once, which is what I plan to do.

Lois is an amazing writer. One of the best I've ever read and I've been a voracious reader for over 45 years (you do the math). I've listened to two of her books so far. Her characters are complex and nuanced. There are no perfect people. The heroes are flawed and the vilans are, if not likeable at least human. The story is fast paced and interesting. The narrator is amazing as well. She has varied and believable voices for both women and men. Her inflections are wonderful. She takes a fabulous story and elevates it to, well, even more fabulous.

What made the experience of listening to Boundary Crossed the most enjoyable?

The writing was excellent and the plot was well paced.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved Lex, getting to know her, her back story and her responses to the changes in her life. She is tough, intelligent and a little wounded.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes.

Any additional comments?

This is my second time through listening to this book. I only listen to my absolute favorites more than once. I will be re-listening to books two and three as well.

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

Fast paced? Really?!! Try no pace. Most of the book I was able to listen to (I just couldn't make it to the end) was the protagonist talking; describing and explaining....... everything. The plot sounded interesting, which is why I kept listening, that and the reviews that called it "fast paced". Liars.... I kept thinking it would pick up, but finally I had to give up. I just couldn't take it any more. Too sad.

Another good audio book. I've both read and listened to this whole series and enjoyed it immensely. This book was heart wrenching and exciting. A good ending to the series. There were a few parts where the plot dragged a little and a few too many Sex scenes for me. Of course if you enjoy them you'll probably love this book. The narration was excellent and brought the book to life in a whole new way.
