Here is the extraordinary true story of a British soldier who marched willingly into Buna-Monowitz, the concentration camp known as Auschwitz III. In the summer of 1944, Denis Avey was being held in a POW labour camp, E715, near Auschwitz III. He had heard of the brutality meted out to the prisoners there and he was determined to witness what he could. He hatched a plan to swap places with a Jewish inmate and smuggled himself into his sector of the camp.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

For all the WWII movies, and History Channel programmes, this audio book was an eye opener to the Actual Horrors experienced by One Denis Avey, a British POW. Very interesting, I could not stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?

A Journey of a man through the war. Not too much in depth detail day by day, but snippets of off the critical pieces over those years with just the right amount of detail as lived through and experienced by Avey.

What does Sean Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Awesome Narrator... Calm, soulful, meaningful delivery.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Horrified at the atrocities of the Concentration Camps.

Any additional comments?

My Favorite Listen So Far.

With robust clarity, Hitchens frames the argument for a more secular life based on science and reason, in which Hell is replaced by the Hubble Telescope's awesome view of the universe, and Moses and the burning bush give way to the beauty and symmetry of the double helix. God Is Not Great marvels at the possibility of society without religion.

What did you like best about God Is Not Great? What did you like least?

Was a very good listen, I enjoyed the informative analysis and naration. However, at 07H46 into the book, almost the end, a Statement was made that the South African Apartheid Government supported the Nazi's in Word War II....
What a fail!

In Fact, South Africa On September 4, 1939, the United Party caucus refused to accept Hertzog's stance of neutrality in World War II and deposed him in favour of Smuts. Upon becoming Prime Minister, Smuts declared South Africa officially at war with Germany and the Axis.

Who was your favorite character and why?

NONE

Have you listened to any of Christopher Hitchens’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

NA

Could you see God Is Not Great being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

NA

Any additional comments?

Would have given a 4 or 5 star Rating if not for the obvious misinformation as stated above.
