At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Having never read the print version I can't say.

Any additional comments?

I would absolutely recommend buying this audiobook. It's charming, well written and will give you an appreciation for modern medicine. I found it quite interesting.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Where does Water for Elephants rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Water for Elephants is definitely in my top 5.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't possibly choose, they're all so compelling.

Have you listened to any of David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't but am looking for novels specifically narrated by them because they were absolutely exceptional.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That would be impossible to divulge without spoiling it for anyone who hasn't read the book yet. There are so many moments throughout the story that are enlightening and heartfelt.

Any additional comments?

Water for Elephants is a novel everyone should read. It's an insightful, beautifully written story that will leave you completely satisfied. I wouldn't be surprised if I took the time to listen to it again which is something I've only done once before.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This is the first vampire/warewolf novel I've ever read so I really didn't know what to expect. It starts off fast and then fills you in on some of the character's history later on. This kind of confused me. Also, the lingo was a bit juvenile. I felt it took away from the quality of writing. Other parts of the book were so well written so I know the author is capable, I just wish it would have been consistent throughout.

What was most disappointing about Kresley Cole’s story?

I wouldn't say this story was disappointing, I'm simply used to a different style of writing from what I'm used to.

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

Robert was a pleasant surprise. He's a pretty great narrator. I'd say he played every part very well.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I think if the author had turned it up a notch and refrained from teenage speak this novel could have been great. However it seems she has an amazing following and tons of fans so maybe she doesn't need to change a thing :)

Any additional comments?

Overall this novel was exciting and entertaining. Even thought there were a few parts that had be rolling my eyes and I likely won't buy the next book in the series I can't say I didn't enjoy myself. It certainly wasn't a waste of money. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet escape and a few laughs.

Maybe once I get through the rest of the series. I'm too excited to find out what happens next.

What other book might you compare Extreme Exposure to and why?

I feel it's difficult to compare Pamela Clare's writing style to any else's. I love her books because there's elements of mystery, action and suspense alongside the romance. There's not a lot of fluff and I like that.

Have you listened to any of Kaleo Griffith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I wouldn't go so far as to say this book was a waste of my time. I'm not entirely sure if Sylvia Day rushed to release this novel but it wasn't as compelling as the first two in the series. I guess it was just a little too far fetched and thick on the drama. The parts that should have been elaborated on were left in the shadows. Still a good story though.

Would you recommend Entwined With You to your friends? Why or why not?

Absolutely, I still consider Sylvia a great writer and it's worth the read.

Did Jill Redfield do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Although Jill Redfield isn't my favorite narrator she's still in my top 10. I've heard a lot worse.

Hard Evidence ranks fairly high in my opinion. Pamela Clare is a clever writer and I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

What other book might you compare Hard Evidence to and why?

Pamela Clare is pretty unique because she combines romance with action and suspense. It's like a cross between Lee Child and Sylvia Day.

Have you listened to any of Kaleo Griffith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Absolutely, I can't get enough of his voice. Normally I'd get creeped out during the sex scenes but this guy is good. Not to mention I was pleasantly surprised when I Googled his picture, hunkyness!
