In a world where I had no say, violence became my refuge. Nothing else mattered, not even my own life, until her: Skyler Bell. It all started the first time I heard that voice, giving me hope for tomorrow. My first love was everything all at once - consuming, maddening, forever, mine. Except I never imagined there were secrets that needed to be shared, lies that needed to be confessed, truths that needed to be told, demons that needed to be buried. Once I realized that the depth, the longing, and the sadness and sorrow in her eyes mirrored my own, it was too late.

I was disappointed that Noah did not have more substance. Some of his behavior and language were like Creed recycled and didn't sound quite right coming from Noah as Creed was impish and Noah is more intense. Sylar almost drove me insane with her little girl voice and constant "please Noah". Overall a good book but not nearly as well done as her others.

Within the underbelly of one of America’s largest cities lives a world where a man’s word is either his most valuable tool or his most respected weapon. When my father ruled that world and that city, he promised me someone who would one day make my reign complete. Since that day long ago, Araneae McCrie has been mine. She just didn’t know. My father is now gone. The city and the underbelly are now mine. The time has come for me to collect who was promised to me, to shred her life of secrets and make her who she’s always been - mine.

What a fabulous book. It's well written with precise verbiage and context. It is even clever...then the narrator ruins it. Loudly yelling, bitching and complaining make the whole thing cheap and the lead to sound childish and petty, which I am sure the writer did not intend while writing what is supposed to be a strong, indepedant woman. I'm going to listen to Lies as the story is compelling and worth the effort of turning down the volume whenever the lead character is displeased.

They say your first kiss should be earned. Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky. They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred. Mine were broken before we left church. They say your heart only beats for one man. Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end. I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit. Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

When I stumbled into a Mafia-run club seeking a job, I was looking for protection. Little did I know I’d need protection from him. Conor O’Callahan was exactly the kind of danger I was trying to avoid. He was gorgeous as sin with an accent hotter than Hades, but that’s where the charm ended. He was also cynical, cold, and downright cranky. You could imagine my surprise when he gave me a proposition: marry him or lose my life.

When everything is on the line, how far will you go to protect those you love? What if the cost of saving them is your soul? Would you pay it? I thought I was prepared for what was coming; that if I made sacrifices, I could win this game. I’m no longer afraid of the darkness or the monsters that hide in the shadows. I’ve become what I feared most, allowing it in to protect those I loved. Sometimes it takes a monster to win. Sometimes to fight monsters, you have to become one. My only fear is....can I come back from it?

Fresh, filthy, fun, outrageous, imaginative and I loved it! Nothing about this story is trite or tired like most fantasy books. The female characters are strong but not over the top. There are twists and turns and all the good stuff. This is a must read if you are into an anti-hero male lead and a female lead that seems innocent but is also adventurous...not irritating. The story moves forward at a good pace to stave off boredom or giving you a chance to think about what's next. You must read this duet!

I didn't know darkness and evil lurked inside me until I had to murder to survive, forced to become my own worst enemy. With so much blood on my hands, I was surprised I could still see my own skin. I killed, I tortured, I loved. I played God while I was rotting in a fiery inferno. Thriving on control and power was the only way I knew how to live. There were no other options. If you weren't my friend, you were my foe. If you weren't with me, you were against me - traitors, as I called them. There were no imaginary lines. I'd crossed them all.

M. Robinson is a fabulous author and continues to entertain. I adore the Road Ends Here duet and El Diablo is an exceptional book. Like her other books, this one I well written with great characters and honest peeks into their lives. I assumed this story would bring El Santo through his life and into the present as Giselle's date in The Road Ends Here but it doesn't. It only gets as far as his leaving for the States. Is there another???? I surely hope so. The book is definitely worth a credit.

As the captain of a schooner catering to the elite on the Caribbean Seas, Sebastian Stark does his best to avoid any human encounters. Interacting with people isn't his thing, and he prefers the company of a bottle of vodka, a shot glass, and maybe a whore. There's no doubt he's hiding from a checkered past, but he does well keeping everything to himself...until the night his schooner capsizes, and he's stuck on a life raft with one of the passengers. Raine's young, she's cute, and Bastian would probably be into her if he wasn't suffering from alcohol withdrawal.

This story is great! The subject matter is new and refreshing. Most books are becoming carbon copy so this is a much welcome change. The best part,,,the women are not whiney, dependent, slutty, or just plain stupid. They are strong in their own ways, but not battleaxes or irritating af wanmabe real women. There are lingering mysteries surrounding Mr. Wonderful/Evil and his crew. This book is so entertaining you just have to give it a whirl. Oh, and Aiden Snow,...nummy, nummy, nummy.

I suppose some of us have to get really dirty before we can become truly clean. I was allegedly South Dakota's most famous Old Lady. Sixteen years ago, I had survived my Old Man's murder. Never again. Never again will I surrender my heart. Never again will I sacrifice to the Club. But that all changed in one night. I came home and crashed into him, and my past and present blew up in my face.

This book is just all around entertaining.
