On the surface, the Victorian age is one of propriety, industry, prudishness and piety. But scratch the surface and you’ll find scandal, sadism, sex, madness, malice and murder. Presented by Stephen Fry, this series delves deep into a period of time we think we know, to discover an altogether darker reality. The stories we’re told offer a different perspective on an era which underwent massive social change. As education, trade, technology and culture blossomed, why was there an undercurrent of the ‘forbidden’ festering beneath Victorian society?

If you enjoy history, particularly British history, then you will really appreciate this audible original. It covers a variety of topics about life during the Victorian era from their fascination with the after life and seances to beauty practices (and cons) of the time.

I personally enjoyed the fact this Original sounds more like a well executed podcast meets audio drama than a traditional audiobook. You won't find a dry recounting of history here!

Another exciting story from Teresa Burrell. I liked the fact the story ended up having a great twist. The characters were multi dimensional and the descriptions were rich (without being too wordy). John Bell does a great job narrating as well...his ability to change voices for each of the characters makes the story come alive. And unlike other narrators....it doesn't feel fake or over done.

I look forward to hearing more novels in this series.

In Sabre's search for justice, she is found near death after a magician's illusion deviously goes wrong.

I have read several books in this series and every book delivers a well written story. This book features JP's point of view and his attempts to uncover whether the man Sabre's mom is a killer, evidence to help rescue a child from her marriage to an older man and more. The narration was excellent...I loved the variety of voices...made the characters come alive.

Leo appears to be just another downtown bum, but he and Libby, Memnet, and Roy share a secret that requires constant vigilance. They live off the grid in the basement of an almost forgotten museum and survive mostly by committing petty crimes. Each of them has gifts for surviving; each has weaknesses, as well. They make it through each day by working together and trusting each other. Major changes happen when they meet Jake, an orphan who witnessed a murder.

This novel mixes a creative mystery story line with a unique twist. The main characters are likable and well developed; each has their own quirks and strengths (and this makes more sense when you learn what big secret they share).

The narration was good. Becky Boyd helped make the characters come alive by giving each one their own "voice"....and she has a talent for accents.

If you are looking for a step up from the usual "cozy mystery" into something that has more action and adventure but without gory details, then you should definitely try this novel.

If you enjoy guided meditations then this title should be in your collection. It's relaxation with a purpose...to open your eyes to find the happy moments in your life.
I found the combination of the narrator's voice and the background music to be quite calming and suitable for listening before bedtime or whenever you need to take a moment to re-center things.

The narration was useful in helping me refocus whenever my mind would start to drift (as is often the case with people new to meditation). If you are looking to start or continue your meditation practice then I would highly recommend this audiobook.

Brendan Burchard said, "You need, more than anything else, daily momentum. It's the secret of all life happiness." "Secret of all life happiness?" Whoa. Sounds pretty good to me. Just a little "daily momentum"? No problem, right? But what if you're stuck? Maybe you've been trying to break through but just can't seem to get ahead.

If you are tired of the typical self help books that try to motivate you with their stories of how they made a zillion dollars after they lost their job or whatever gimmick of the moment is...then you will find this book refreshing.
Although, the author does share his experience of always wanting to be a writer but having endless excuses as to why he thought that wasn't possible....but 1) it's relatable 2) it's a minor point (rather than an autobiography pretending to be a self-help book). The writing is creative...almost like listening to a fiction novel instead of a self help book. And that's why this book is great. It gives you solid tips and cuts through the excuses your brain is likely to come up with in order to avoid actually taking the first real step towards whatever your dream happens to be...yet it provides a fresh take on a often tired and repetitive genre.

Sit or lay in a comfortable, quiet place. Breathe in through your nose and fill your diaphragm with oxygen. Relax your nostrils. Relax your throat and tongue. Allow the air to flow freely into your abdomen. Look down at your belly and watch it fill and empty. With awareness, choose to breathe through your belly, rather than up into your chest and shoulders. Close your eyes and continue breathing in and out for at least 10 breaths. Don't hurry or slow your breath. Quiet your mind and just breathe at a comfortable pace.

What made the experience of listening to Guided Meditation for Sleep, Relaxation, and Stress Relief the most enjoyable?

This guided meditation is great for a quick mental reset when you're having a busy day and need some stress relief or to unwind before bed. Unlike some other audiobooks that also include nature sounds, this is strictly a guided meditation. Personally, I liked the fact it's fairly short...so you could use it while at work or school to help you de-stress or even to reduce anxiety before a big meeting or exam.

Would you listen to Guided Meditation: 30 Minute Deep Sleep Hypnosis for Better Sleep, Stress Relief, & Relaxation again? Why?

After using this for several days, I found that the guided meditation helps you to unwind and stop the "chatter" in your head. The narrator's voice is soothing and unobtrusive. I liked how the guided meditation slowly gives way to the nature sounds. After using it for several nights, I did find it improve the quality of my sleep. However, if you don't find nature sounds soothing (e.g. birds, the ocean) then you might not like this book.
