This book had a similar theme, as book one;The Heroine is too ashamed to admit her true sexual desires. I found that similarity annoying but the rest of the plots were different. This book has two Hero’s instead of one so the Hero hotness is doubled and of course there are MFM sexual interactions that were very sexy. I enjoyed the short diversion that this book offered however, if it had not been offered as part of the Romance package, I would not have spent a credit for a book this short. Shorter is never better.(get your head out of the gutter, that’s not what I was talking about)

I really liked the characters, in this book. In this book, potential brides are matched with a perfect match, based on a series of physical and mental tests. The author does a great job convincing the reader/listener that the couple is a perfect match by the way that the two interacted. I really wanted more of their story and was a bit disappointed when I read the summary of the next book and saw that it was about totally different characters.

I really don’t get why more and more authors are writing this short books. Are short books the preference of most readers? If so then I must be wired because I want to spend more time and experience more with the characters of a book.

This book, in this series, got more of an emotional response than the previous books. I may have shed a few tears. Of course, the story ended with a HEA. Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book. My only complaint is the usual complaint, with this author; her books are too short. I started this series because it is part of the Romance package, however, the books past this one are not included with the package and since I never spend a credit for a book that is less than 8 hours, I won’t be continuing past this book. It’s kind of a bummer, though, I was anxious for these warriors to win their planet back.

Oh how I wish....
There was more than two books, in this series.

That this book would have had more content after the H/h were mated.

That this book let us experience how the Alpha handled presenting his new mate to the pack.

That the book would have had the conflict between the Alpha and his father, resolved; since it influenced a majority of the plot, in this book.

That the author would put in a little more time and effort and double the length of her books; making them great instead of pretty good.

All that being said, since this book was included in the romance package, I was willing to risk my time, in hopes of enjoying the book, Which I did, mostly. Is it worth a credit? Not really, it was too short and not worth the price of a credit. However, it’s a worthy Romance package listen.

This book is about a more mature love. The Heroine is a Widow that has be alone and Celibate for 18 years and the Hero has been a Widower for 20 years. They both feel an instant connection but it is an assignment giving from the Hero’s sovereign that throws them into intimate contact which allows their connection to blossom into more. However, the Hero suffers from guilt at his inability to protect his mate from her and their children’s death that leads him to punish himself by promising his forever faithfulness to his deceased mate.
This causes conflict and pain to both the H/h until an unrealized truth is revealed to the Hero.
As with all the books, in this series, the story does not live up to it’s full potential, due to the short length and it’s particularly the end that is abrupt and incomplete that lowers my ratings for these books. It’s really too bad because the author has written 10+ hour books, so she is capable. Instead she deprives these characters and this series it’s full potential.

Where to start? The beginning of this book/series had a rough start. I THINK I know what the author was trying to attempt but, it came across as kind of stupid and very awkward. The beginning started with a genetic pairing between a Prince of an Alien Race that saw humans as inferior and a human slave with physic gifts. The Alien race purchased the female, human slave and the relationship starts out as a true Master/Slave relationship. He even keeps her in a cage. Everyone in his community treated the Heroine as a slave, with the exception of the ship’s cook. The Hero takes advice from the ship’s Dr who advises corporal punishment to mold the human into a passive, willing breeder. However, the Heroine actually gets aroused by the spanking and their relationship morphs into an intense BDSM Master/Slave, D/s relationship and they fall in love with each other. However, the most submissive woman, in the world, wouldn’t fall in love with a male that treated her the way the Prince did. To top it off, she saves his life multiple times by preventing him from being somewhere he was supposed to be killed,( her SECRET psychic ability warned her of his danger) but he assumes she is in cahoots with the enemy and banished and beat her. Oh, no worries, she forgives him and finally he decides to treat her like an equal living being. Like I said, I understand what the author was trying but it did not come across, to me, as I think she meant. However, since the book was part of the Romance package and I really liked another Alien book she wrote, I stuck with the book and am going to try one more book before I throw in the towel.

Ok, let me start by reminding everyone that this a work of fantasy fiction and should be evaluated, as such. The community that this book is set in is a true patriotically society. Meaning, Men and Women have roles similar to prehistoric times. Men are the hunters and protectors and women are gatherers and do the child rearing. Therefore, to enjoy the intent, of the author, a listener can use feminist values to evaluate the book; it’s make believe, remember?
The whole point is that the Heroine is so attracted to the Hero because of his Alpha ways; which are so different than she is used to. Therefore, there is domestic discipline and a sort of D/s power exchange between the Heroine and Hero. Hey, this makes this couple happy so don’t be critical, just enjoy this explicit, sexy love story. I did!!!!Honestly, I wish this would have been a series.

There is definitely some tear jerking moments, in this book. Saber, the Hero, who has been an elite warrior his entire adult life, suffers a traumatic injury that changes the course of his life; he does not handle this fact well. He suffers greatly physically and emotionally and, as a result, sabotages his relationship, with the Heroine.
The Heroine suffers her own life threatening event and this helps Saber snap out of his pity party.
There are a lot of sweet moments, in this book but, unfortunately, a major event is not resolved, during this book. I think it’s a rip off for authors to release incomplete books for financial gain so I’ll be avoiding any further books from the author, for awhile, as a personal protest. (I did enjoy the incomplete story, however.

This book is definitely has a lot of touching parts. It also has a lot of action, to include information and hints about future books, in this series.
First, I want to stress that David Brenin, the narrator for this series, does a fantastic job. I have absolutely no complaints about either the narration or the production.
The Hero, Dagger, has been a captive for two years by two men who run a illegal gladiator like fight club. The author does a fine job expressing the mental and physical torture that someone might experience, in this situation. Be warned that there is a lot of grotesque violence explained, in detail, in this book.
The Heroine, Jordan, is a strong, extremely intelligent and determined character. Jordan has been assumed dead for two years. However, Jordan’s love for Dagger makes her refuse to accept his death as truth. She is/has been a computer geek and uses her skills to track Jordan down. First, with the help of one brother and then additional help of other friends and family, a elaborate rescue is attempted. I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll end my review by saying that this may be the most exciting book, of the series, and as long as you can handle the detailed violence, this is a must listen.
