The only issue I have with Lexi Blake’s writing, is her tendency to write extremely, cheesy dialogue between the Hero and Heroine. Most of her romances include a period in time where the Hero and Heroine “break up” for awhile. The issue is that when they reconnect, their professions of love and forgiveness come across as a bit, over the top. There has to be middle ground between unemotional and cheesy as hell, I wish she’d find that zone. Other than that, the book is full of action, intrigue and mystery. Her books usually have a lot of hot sex, although this one had very little. In addition, there is always some ridiculous humor from Big Tag and his team; always something to look forward to. There is also strong female characters who put these alpha males in their place. What’s not to love? This series is definitely worth the time and financial commitment.

Luckily for her, helping patients face their fears is one of his specialties. Kori knows she wants Kai. Her boss is the most amazing man she’s ever met. She’s also smart enough to stay away from him. Just like with all the other books, in this series, I finished it with a satisfied sigh. What is there not to love? The characters are all awesome, the storyline was packed full of mystery and adventure, there was lots of sexy D/s play and Ryan West’s narration was flawless. Not to mention, Big Tag and the rest of the crew, always provide ridiculous, over the top Alpha male stupid statements, to laugh about. There was also a sweet love story between two damaged souls.

This series has always been credit worthy but, with an unexpected bonus, many books in this series are offered as part of the Romance package. What’s not to love? Hit Download now!

The Hero, in this book, is an injured Veteran. He is an amputee and was the only survivor of his team. He suffers from survivors guilt and self pity, due to his injury and the fact he wife left him. He and the Heroine meet at their place of employment; Top Sean Taggert’s restaurant . There is an immediate attraction and their relationship gets hot and heavy, until a secret from their past, strains their new relationship.

This novella has a lot of my favorite Masters and Mercenaries characters and will bring both tears of joy and sorrow, to your eyes.

It was an enjoyable listen but, could have been so much more, if the word count was a bit higher. With that being said, any book from this series is an auto download, for me.

This book was so good, so emotional and prophetic. These two guys had been through hell, all because of society’s bigotry. Homophobia is one of my biggest pet peeves. No one has the right to judge another person, based on who they choose to love. Unfortunately, the anguish these two characters suffered is not just true in fiction. Even though the laws have tried to ensure that homosexual and heterosexual people all have equal rights, bigotry and hatred have not changed. This story, hopefully, gives insight to those people who have not personally suffered from the ugliest side of human nature. As for me, this book touched me so much more than any of the other books, in this series, and I am glad the author chose to highlight the on going difficulties of those who live unconventional lifestyles.

I’m really glad these two characters finally got their HEA. Even old people like us deserve second chances at love. I have loved Eddie’s snark, throughout this series, and her snark continues in this story also. As far as Captain, anyone who has harbored a love for thirty years, should finally get to experience the reality.
As far as the truth from the past and the consequences and resolution that followed, it was a bit too neat. Everyone was too forgiving, evidence became available in the Knick of time and no Horseman blood was spilled. Of course, I’m glad it all worked out but, it was completely unrealistic. Oh well, it is fiction, after all.

So far, with the previous books, I found the true dual narration, between these two narrators, refreshing. However, the voice inflections Kai chose for Duke, were lacking. I know that Duke is supposed to be emotionally aloof, due to his history but, aloof shouldn’t mean a monotone voice; especially when this character has barely contained anger. It just didn’t fit, in my opinion. In addition, the monotone voice made it a difficult book to finished. If I was sitting or laying down,I dozed off.
That being said, I loved how these two damaged people related and helped, each other. Normally, I would be uncomfortable with a sexual abuse victim who desired a relationship with someone 20 years, her senior. That would come across as a victim mimicking their abusive encounter. However, in this case, the age difference isn’t what formed the attraction; it was the shared abusive history.
This was pretty well written and I think it makes a good addition to the series. My only real disappointment was the narrator’s performance.

I really liked some of the elements of this book, a lot. I was really touched with how the two kidnap victims connected and supported each other. I also really appreciated the way that the Heroine grew, as an individual, by acknowledging that the world isn’t black and white, but many shades of grey. I also appreciated the subtle differentiation explained between, the letter of the law and the spirited the law. I also enjoyed experience the emotional growth of the Hero. I also loved the Hero’s ability to not hold a grudge and actually forgive and forget.( most people don’t have that ability.)
I really enjoyed most of the plot but felt like the author missed a great opportunity for the Heroine to make her corrupt boss pay for his actions. I really hated that he got away with his abuse of power and lack of decency. If the Heroine could have righted that wrong, I think it would have made a powerful statement.
That being said, I still really enjoyed listening to this book. Do yourself a favor and hit download.

This book has very little of the plot set in MC club life. This story is more about a man who has lived his whole life surrounded by club life, getting a chance to just be a man, without the influence of a MC club. It’s a book about second chances.

Snake, who has been the lowest kind of human being, in the rest of the series, has to fight his way back from the edge of death. His injuries are horrific and actually leave him with permanent disabilities. Since Snake grew up as the son of a MC club president, this time of recovery is the first time in his life that he has gotten to view life from a civilian’s point of view. The lack of pressure from the worst dregs of society, allows the man, behind the cut, to explore his softer side. His relationship surrounded by Amanda’s pure soul, allows him to experience peace, for the first time. Of course, there is a day of reckoning and hard decisions to make, but it all ends up with a HEA.
I would have scored the book higher but there are two important issues that are left unresolved that takes away from the story.
Overall, it was an enjoyable listen and the fact that I got to enjoy this book as part of the Romance package, was a double bonus.

I definitely got into the story. It had an original plot but, the Heroine was a lot like Zsadist and his emotional and Physical scars. He was abused as a youth and then imprisoned and tortured for 20 years. Where Z had gotten his ultimate revenge, this Hero is still striving for that goal.

This novella definitely includes some gruesome imagery, to include a glimpse of a mass suicide/murder in a religious cult. Therefore, this story is not for the faint of heart.

I must be getting old because, if we have heard mention of any of these characters, in previous books, I have forgotten it. Therefore, I’m revisiting book 16 to find the connection; JRW usually makes one.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t even a cameo of any of my beloved characters from the BDB. However, there were a couple of references made about Wrath son of wrath.

I am freely admitting that any novel that is set in the world of the BDB, has been and always will be an auto download for me. I am a forever fan.
