Tucked away in northeastern Vermont, picturesque Askergan County is the perfect place for a winter vacation - for the lucky few who know about it. Askergan is so peaceful, crime so nonexistent, that they don't even have a full-time police force, just a Sheriff and two deputies who spend most of their time dishing out parking tickets and breaking up the occasional bar fight. But that was before the storm.

I love a good scare. I especially love when a book delivers and keeps me thinking about the story for days. Excellent job by the author Patrick Logan to flesh out (pun intended) characters that we realistic. The icing on the cake were the voices and sound effects by Michael Pauley. His ability to give each character their own style that reflect their own personality heightened the enjoyment!

His name is Nate and I should hate him, but I don't. I'm not supposed to know his real name, even worse, I'm not supposed to care. He is nothing to me but means to an end. The plan is simple: break free, collect the pieces of my broken soul, kill the bastards and run away.

Have to say that I love this author. She creates characters that are flawed and in other hands could be unlikable. By the end, you are championing for their cause even when they're planning murder (not a spoiler.) The narrator- Pauley- is one of my favorites. Adds realistic accents and let's the characters come to life. Adds the tension and suspense that makes you to listen more!

They were flawed and marvelous in their interaction. Shen kept the suspense in every chapter until the end. The narration and accents by Pauley put you in Boston. He gave life to every character! Loved it!
