When the British fought the young United States during the War of 1812, they knew that taking the mouth of the Mississippi River was the key to crippling their former colony. Capturing the city of New Orleans and stopping trade up the river sounded like a simple task - New Orleans was far away from Washington, out of sight and out of mind for the politicians. What the British didn't count on was the power of General Andrew Jackson.

Interesting story, love kilmeades books but he shouldn’t narrate them - talks to fast, misses the art of pausing for emphasis, several mispronunciations that became irritating . Probably a better read

Jake McKallister might have been a rock star, but he was no ordinary one. Surviving an unspeakable crime as a young teen had shaped him into a guarded workaholic, and he now lived his life trying to forget. If it hadn't been for music and the redemption he found through it, he might not have survived. Career success came easily for him. Personal connections did not.

Generally not a romance reader but I am so glad I listened to this book. It made me happy! Excellent character development, excellently narrated, interesting storyline- made me feel like a giddy schoolgirl! Great humor- I laughed out loud! made me actually care about these characters. Was thrilled to find out this was first of a series, will definitely purchase the next 3! Highly recommend
