Volumes one, two, and three of the Upending Tad series. In Loser Takes All, Tad's weekend starts out like any other; hitting a college frat party with a handful of buddies. But just as the evening hits its peak, things get up-ended fast. Ditched by his drunken, trolling friends, Tad winds up getting hustled by three jocks playing poker. Now, he's forced to pay his dues in the most outlandish of ways by spending an hour with his victors' favorite flogger, Scott.

The author calling this series, “A journey of erotic discovery,” is exactly the description of what’s in store when you follow Scott and Tad. Scott is a personal trainer but also calls himself a part time Dom. When Tad loses a card game, he finds himself with almost no choice but to submit to the allotted time with Scott in control. Scott becomes everything Tad never knew he wanted or needed. He never considered himself attracted to men and the feelings Scott brings out in him turn his world upside down. This volume mostly moves from one intimate moment to the next and the scenes continue on and on and never do get old. Knight clearly writes heated erotic scenes that capture the journey Tad is on and it’s a skill to be able to sustain that. We don’t learn too much about either guy and the book is not designed for that at this point. But ever so slowly, Tad starts to come around to admitting his feelings, but his journey is far from over.

You have to be able to go along with the set-up of this book and how Scott and Tad meet. Tad also has never been in a submissive position before and for Scott calling himself a Dom, there is a lack of consent issue and there are never any limits discussed and the book should be approached as an erotic fantasy. Scott and Tad ultimately could make a great couple and for insane chemistry with a hint of romance, this is a good bet.

Michael Pauley is a favorite narrator and I will often select an audio based on his narration. His voice is clear and pleasant and for this audio, he sustained one intimate scene after the next. The voices of Scott and Tad weren’t as distinct as I would have liked, and they often sounded the same which runs counter to everything else I have listened to from Pauley. He is still a good choice as he brings the erotic world of Scott and Tad to life.

Taylor Langford’s world is torn apart when he is only 13 years old - his parents killed, leaving him alone and orphaned. With no living relatives, he’d certainly be another statistic if not for the intervention of the policeman who found Taylor in the crawl space where his mother hid him that fateful night. Frank Moore is a rookie with the Dallas Police Department when he and his partner answer the call in Devonshire. Over the years, Frank becomes a permanent fixture in Taylor’s life.

What did you love best about Survivor?

The characters were interesting and they propelled the story forward.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Taylor's strength and his determination to go after what he wanted.

What about Nick J. Russo’s performance did you like?

Nick J. Russo offers a solid performance that makes for fairly easy listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The relationship and the mystery surrounding Taylor's past made for an intriguing story that made you want to keep listening.

Any additional comments?

This story had an interesting premise. Although it dealt with a darker subject with Taylor's past the book didn't have as much impact in that area as I would have liked. The story jumps over the earlier time of Taylor and Frank connecting and even when they do get together there are jumps over larger periods of time and the ending of the larger plot felt unresolved to me. If you are looking for a book based on trauma but dealt with on the lighter side, this could be one to check out. Russo is a familiar voice in the genre and offers a solid performance overall. He doesn't offer too much in the way of different character voices but makes for a pleasant listen as a whole.

His humble origins are enough of a hurdle, never mind his recent decision to defend a group accused of treason, prompting speculation that he may harbour radical sympathies. David's personal life is no more successful. Tormented by his forbidden desires for other men, David tries to live a celibate existence. But then into David's repressed and orderly world bursts Lord Murdo Balfour. Cynical, hedonistic, and utterly unapologetic, Murdo could not be less like David.

What did you like best about this story?

The interactions between David and Murdo.

Yes.

Any additional comments?

This was a great story that showcased the time period it was set in. The author does a great job with setting the atmosphere of the time and place and the narration added an authentic element. The story is not complete after this first book but the story of David and Murdo continues on.

What made the experience of listening to Collide the most enjoyable?

The narrator took a favorite book and enhanced it with a rich tone of voice and layers of emotion. He did an overall great job of bringing the story to life.

Have you listened to any of Luke Itzvic’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to two other performances from Itzvic. His character voices are similar from one character to the next but he offers a well done performance overall.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The emotion from Copper realizing he's attracted to Noah was well written throughout the book by the author and then the audio performance took it to a new level and did right by the story.

Three men from different backgrounds find each other and make the home they always craved. Jonas, Mace, and Cole all have lived through excessive trauma in their lives and the scars run deep and the wounds are still raw. Kennedy offers an intensely written story that captures all three men while showing the dangers that still want to silence them. With three MCs that all have dark stories, we were given a great sense of all three men. While there were still some areas that needed a bit more to fully appreciate their backgrounds, the author showed how the three of them worked as one, and I was still captivated by their stories.

Having not read this book, the audio was an overall great way to enjoy it the first time. It did take me some time to get into the narration as Joel Leslie’s voice is older than the characters, had a lispy quality to some sounds, as well as a nasal tone. Mace and Cole were given a deeper, raspy tone and their voices were not distinct from each other. Leslie did offer an emotional rendering to his performance which elevated the overall listening experience. With drama, action, heat, and intensity, both the author as well as the narrator will have me looking to listen to the rest of this addictive series

Jared's dialogue stayed true to the area he was from. While Fenix had an American speaking voice that was true to his character his inner dialogue had an English accent which was contradictory.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I was captivated by the story of Jared and Fenix. The running time of the audio was over eight hours and I enjoyed spending time with them over a few days.

Love at first sight. Teodora Kostova believes in it and after you listen to Dance and spend time with Jared and Fenix, you may just believe in it as well. Love and lust at first sight does not always work well in a book, but it absolutely works here and it works oh so well.

The author offers a timely and contemporary story. There is more than one story line and the women were less interesting characters to listen to. Brandon and Nate are not in a scene together until almost halfway into the book. There are some similarities between the characters in this book and another of Reed's novels. Overall, an easy story to listen to about finding love.
