OMG - I struggled through the narrator and really thought something would eventually happen to make the story more interesting. It never did but it did just end right in the middle of the story. Not even a cliff hanger - just stopped. I think a junior high schooler coould have written this.

I met the president's son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I'd never met a guy like him. He promised me that he'd never run for president. I promised that if he did, I'd be by his side. Two terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton's campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I've ever experienced. I'm determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

I can't stand it when authors write a book and split it in half to make more money by misleading readers. It's just dishonest. Really. They should at least say as much in the description - Like book 1 of 2 or something like that. It seemed like the slow moving story was finally going to get somewhere and then it was just done. This is why I gave it an overall of 1 star.

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

I just can't imagine that anyone would think a high pitched nasally sounding man could be at all sexy and you certainly can't picture him a the big hockey player he is supposed to be. I wish the Ms. Newtown would have just narrated the whole thing. That really messed things up for me. The story was cute for a while but then it started to be just the same old insecurity for Violet over and over and over. That's when it started to drag on.

Some people judge me because I strip for a living, but I don't give a shit about those assholes. I play hard but f--k harder. And no woman is going to change that. When I meet JoJo, I expect a one-night stand, but a revealing photograph pushes us together, and now she needs me to be more than that. For JoJo, I can be more than a stripper - I can be her man. I'm not sure what has happened to her writing from the first one until now but it feels like a high schooler is writing the story. Very disappointing. I Skipped through most of the book just to get to the end.

This is a dark and ugly book that I couldn't even get through. Who wants to read such demented stuff? I had no idea that it would be this way. I had read a few of her books before and they were good so I purchased a couple of more. This one and Meet me in the Dark are two that I just couldn't even stomach. Talk about downgrading women and seeing them treated worse than animals..... Yuk.
