Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father's inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty - until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. Hardening her heart, the young woman sets out to claim what is owed and soon gains a reputation for being able to turn silver into gold. When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk - grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh - Miryem's fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered.

I loved this book so much. It was a beautiful and unique story. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an intriguing and whimsical fantasy story. Wonderful, strong female characters wound into a fascinating and original tale of Jewish and Eastern European cultures, tzars, demons, winter and the fae. Some people call this book a fairytale but I think that it is so much more than just a fairytale. If you like this book check out Uprooted as well.. it was equally phenomenal!

Love is somewhere near the bottom of Lily Thomas' list of life goals, right next to competitive eating and underwater cave diving. She's spent six years pirouetting and pliéing her way up the ranks of the New York Ballet with her eye on the prize and love in the back seat. But now that Blane Baker - Lily's long time crush - is finally single, she'll throw her rules out the window without thinking twice.

Would you listen to With a Twist again? Why?

So um yeah, the first few lines pull you in just a little bit…right! Any author who starts a romance novel with that kind of passage is wonderfully & spectacularly erotic in my book! You have to listen to see what I mean….!!! No time wasted in this book, you are pulled right in and sucked into the story. The characters are all so tangible and easy to relate to, stunningly developed. I found myself shocked and appalled when bad things happened to them and cheering for them when luck went their way! I adore dance and all things ballet so I treasured all of the precise and detailed passages about this beautiful art!

What was one of the most memorable moments of With a Twist?

That night at the club!

Which character – as performed by Kirsten Leigh – was your favorite?

Ok so we all know how a narrator can make or break an audiobook. Well this narrator was phenomenal! She made each and every character come alive! Her portal of Lilly was superb! I can’t imagine Lilly with any other voice than the one given to her by Kristen! She was Lilly!

Yes!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Christian Grey of course!

Any additional comments?

I forgot how much I love this story! EL James does not disappoint with this version from Christian Grey’s perspective. The mental imagery gained from thoughtful vocabulary woven into an intricate and entertaining story provides a crystal clear view into the dark mind of Christian Grey. It is wonderful and refreshing to read his side of the story. If you liked 50 Shades you’ll adore Grey. It is complex and well written and I cannot put it down. This simple romance book could easily be stacked against fiction from any genre. I loved it! The narrator does a magnificent job embodying exactly who you picture Mr. Grey to be. If you did not like 50 Shades then you probably will not like this one either. I personally, am in love.

Now the challenge for Cherry’s handlers is to rescue Ann while keeping her existence a secret from Cherry’s public - and from Cherry herself.

Would you try another book from Carl Hiaasen and/or Stephen Hoye?

no

Has Star Island turned you off from other books in this genre?

what genre? this book has a genre? I would have rather read a smutty romance novel.

What didn’t you like about Stephen Hoye’s performance?

it's the book that sucks mainly, not the performance.
