James S.A. Corey delivers compelling SF that ranks with the best in the field. romance, reanimated spider hands, and a big fat mystery concerning unknown extremeophile that could change all of humanity all this in...... outer space. Its got it all, worth your time and or credit.

( This is not a military based book in the style of Webber or Ringo, if you are looking for that, but there are some battles.) All around good story. Looking forward to the next book

In the late summer of a long-ago year, a killer arrived in a small city. His name was Alton Turner Blackwood, and in the space of a few months he brutally murdered four families. His savage spree ended only when he himself was killed by the last survivor of the last family, a 14-year-old boy. Half a continent away and two decades later, someone is murdering families again, re-creating in detail Blackwood’s crimes.

Dean Koontz's books for me are either fantastic or a complete waste of time. I will have to go with a hit this time but, just barely .. It was a lot like the movie "Fallen" where the spirit moves from person to person. Worth your time and Credit, great narration but don't get too excited it not as good as the ''Odd Thomas" books or "Frankenstein" books

The story is predictable, but not too boring. There are several books before this one and it would have been better to have read them before this one. But it can stand alone. Not as good as the "Carpathian" novels.
