Since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the country—and the world—has witnessed a stormy, outrageous, and absolutely mesmerizing presidential term that reflects the volatility and fierceness of the man elected Commander-in-Chief.

Back in their college days, Gretchen Wise had been engaged to a top law student. Carol Furness, head cheerleader, had said yes to the school’s football hero. And Maddie Cobain was the girl who’d fallen for a professor. Now the three of them gather around a popular fountain on the college grounds. This fountain was where lovers met, where promises were made...and broken. So it’s fitting that Gretchen, Carol and Maddie sit here to share their stories of betrayal and, yes, revenge.

It took me awhile to get accustomed to the narrator and the story...it initially didn't peak my interest. Once I started listening to the stories of the individuals then I was hooked into the storylines! :)

The narrator left something to be desired, but overall she was ok - just not one of my favorite narrators. She performed well in distinguishing the characters which was a plus.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! I love Sherlock Holmes books and this story was a nice twist - it was nice getting to know the Holmes family...I'll be starting book 2 soon...I hope it's as good!

What other book might you compare A Study in Scarlet Women to and why?

That's a hard question, but it's similar to some of Jane Austen books in the sense that it tells of the difficulties women and the unprotected had to endure - keeping some reality in the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

Most of the interactions of the sisters near the beginning of the book - I'm re-reading to ensure I capture all the details. :)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I woulda if I coulda! :)

Any additional comments?

This was a delightful story after reading some mysteries and thrillers...this was a light hearted but still not adrift in trying to make women seem like they're of our time.

Have you listened to any of Cassandra Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, never have heard any of her other works, but I plan check for titles she's worked on.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gosh...maybe, MisFortune's Side-kicks

Adam Rutledge, Viscount d'Arque, really rather loathes Christmas. The banal cheerfulness. The asinine party games. And, worst of all, the obligatory trip to the countryside. His grandmother, however, loves the holiday - and Adam loves his grandmother, so he'll brave the fiercest snowstorm to please her. But when their carriage wheel snaps, they're forced to seek shelter at the home of the most maddening, infuriating, and utterly beguiling woman he's ever met.

Would you try another book from Diana Gabaldon and/or Davina Porter?

Yes - I've loved other books in the Outlander series and the first of Sir John. However, moving forward to the next book in the series gives me some pause.

Has The Fiery Cross turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I should have read the reviews on this one first before using one of my valuable credits.

Which scene was your favorite?

I haven't finished the book, but the Gathering on Fraser Ridge was interesting and learning a little more about Roger.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Nothing really comes to mind other than hearing of some time period tasks folks had to endure...I'm truly disappointed and I'm now skipping to the beginning of chapters to see if there's a subject I'd like to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I'm going to try a few more chapter beginnings and maybe a few at the end, but TOO everyday of daily lives.

Would you consider the audio edition of Into the Wilderness to be better than the print version?

I have not looked at or used the print version, but I've SO enjoyed the characters voices in the audio version that I have no desire to use the print version. Disclaimer...I work at a screen all day and my eyes thank me for NOT reading the print versions - still there are some books that I want to see spellings, etc. of characters and places.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Into the Wilderness?

Oh gosh!!! This question is hard, but Boots in the forest fighting the "bad" man or Richard's attempt to capture her are the two which really got my heart pumping equally. There are so many scenes which qualify as memorable!!!!!!! :)

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and I LOVE Kate Reading's performances, and with this series she gave another excellent performance - I think with new variations of characters' voices.

If you could rename Into the Wilderness, what would you call it?

Paradise Unveiled ... difficult question. :)

Any additional comments?

I started this series after starting the Outlander series and reading a review on this book where Claire is referenced and that sparked my interest. I had no idea that I'd enjoy this series more than the Outlander series. I'm headed back to Outlander just to get closer to Into the Wilderness timeframe....just purely from historical time table flow. A logic only for me. :) :)
